Hi guys and gals, I registered on the forums about two days ago. I am currently looking to buy a Z. Just a little about myself, I am 24 and will be turning 25 in March of '09, my income is $2,100 a month, I have a current auto loan with Toyota (I currently drive a Scion tC), which i owe about $7,000 left. My bills right now are my car loan, car insurance, phone bill, and 3 credit card bills, no rent (I live for free). When I buy a new car, I have someone who can take over my Scion payments. So, my question again is can I afford to buy and maintain a 350Z or 370Z with my current situation?

that depends on how much ur insurance is, ur credit card bills are and if ur income is before or after taxes. Not going to lie though, I'm leaning towards no unless you have a big downpayment saved up. you should probably pay off all ur credit cards first and then think about buying a new car.

okay...thanks for being honest guys. I will wait until I am more financially stable to purchase my Z...probably a 2011 370Z. I always wanted a Z for a while now, but its better to be safe and wait until I'm ready.

you can get a 03 for the price you paid for your girlie car. just make sure you got gap coverage and go wrap your car around a telephone pole then use the difference from what its worth as a DP on a used Z. its the american way to buy somethign you can't afford! also is the $2100 before or after taxes?

before or after taxes doesn't make any difference..
he drop the scion
he get the Z
he will have dates every night because chicks love the Z
he will have a kid
he will need to move and pay the rent
sell the z
be broke because he will need to take care of the kid, the mom and drive an used honda.

Working at a dealership my suggestion to you with the credit crunch going on right now, I'd wait. Also when the 370Z comes out dealerships will have the "fair market" price taxed on to the vehicle making the 350Z cheaper. 2008 models within a year will drop in price significantly.
so my suggestion is to wait it out, during this time put some money away to the side. Maybe every month set whatever you find comfortable to put to the side and also pay your credit cards off.

congratulations on being responsible and making a wise decision.
my car payment is probably about a tiny bit less then a fifth of my income, and I have all the normal bills (rent/cell/one cc/energy/water/garbage blah blah), if you are responsible and can manage your money well it's not out of the question. You do have three CC bills though so maybe I am wrong.. why use 3 cc's? why not consolidate that into one with the lowest APR (or 0% APR payoff transfer)?
but really, if you have to ask, the answer is already no. you need to be aware of what you are spending on all of your bills / all of your entertainment / food etc, how much extra a month you have to play with. you want to make sure you have a comfortable amount of extra money to do whatever with each month.
the problem is, you currently don't pay rent, you aren't really "situated", and if a time arose where you wanted to move out, you probably couldn't afford to.

i make $3k a month and afford it just fine. I have no cc bills and pay $280 for my maxed out insurance plan. I also live free and have a 2acre lot that i just started building on( doing work myself).... Other than insuarnce and car note (paying double), I pay cell phone for two($120), and a fourwheeler ($101).
