to be honest brother, i wouldn't buy a salvaged title z. There will be too many problems selling one later on, you don't know what kind of damage it sustained and if it can take a beating if worst case scenario happens (crash).
The way i see it, buying a salvage title car is like dating a girl that was cured from stds.

Look at it this way - *IF* it makes the drive back to Oakland from Arizona, then it's probably not a bad deal.
Drive it for 5 years and it won't be worth much of anything anyway, so you're not going to be concerned about resale/trade-in value.

What this man said is key. Also, the CARFAX suggestion. Please do your homework on this first. Maybe it's just me, but 7K is a lot of cash, (to lose that is)! But sounds like a deal if the car is good.
How it looks on the outside is the least of your problems.
Carfax the vehicle first. If possible, have a good mechanic check it out. Even for 7k, if the vehicle is not road worthy you may end up losing both the 7k and having something go out on you at speed, which will make the money seem trivial.
