My old 78 280Z had over 100k on it when I sold it...if an old school motor can make that, then today's Z motor ought to see 200k if maintained. Motors are quite a bit more reliable and longer lasting due to technological advances in both construction and lubrication.
It all goes to how the car is maintained. People were shocked to hear that my '02 vette had 97,000 miles and my '06 Trailblazer SS had 77,000...they didn't look it and they sure didn't run like "worn-out" cars!
The nice thing about a higher mileage car is that you don't have to fret about putting miles on it. My '06 350zr gt has 16,500 miles and I stop and think every time I head out...just like our '09 vette...1,500 miles after nearly 2 months... It is almost as rare as your Lotus though...
Get a car you can enjoy...and drive it like it was meant to be driven!

i again reference my earlier post in this thread. my 03 had almost 200K. if it has 90k on a 2005, it has to be highway miles mostly, theres just no way to accumulate that many miles driving in the city. that being said the clutch probably has a lot of life left on it, the engine is most likely still running strong. get those basics tests performed that you mentioned in the OP, and you should be good to go!
