Default Still looking for a 350z

Hey guys, posted a while back.. and am still looking for a 350z.

Went and looked at this car http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Got them down to 13500 plus $500 dealer fee and tax. You guys think thats a good deal? Ive seen some for cheaper but also higher.. I am really confused as to what the market is on some of these cars.

Im looking for a car under 80k miles for 13500 or less. I do not want a silver one.. and if I did I could already have a car lol.. seems there are tons of silver ones and they are cheaper than any other color.

Ive been looking for about a month and a half and am slowly losing hope...

Looks like an OK deal to me for $13,500. $500 dealer fee? Ouch!

Be patient. If the dealer is sticking you with a $500 “fee” what else are they sticking to you?

Yeah the dealer fee was the main part that upset me.. if he would have done 13500 with the dealer fee I would have bought it.

He said his boss could only go down to 13500 and thats what they gave for it on trade in...(I think he is lying lol) He also stated that his boss got mad at him for having it listed as 14991 online and told him to put it back up to 15991... lol like he will sell it for that.

I know I should be patient but it is getting to me. I need a car lol, and test driving all of these is making me mad.

If anyone has a 80k or less 350z in any color but silver for 13500 or less, pm me. I live near Chattanooga TN but would be willing to drive a bit. Just looking for a good car.

Thanks

I know where there is a 2003 350Z with 95k for sale for $9,900, but its in CT. But I can vouch for it. Plus you'd get lots of goodies (just not wheels shown in the signature).

Ok guys I went and looked at another one tonight. Its a 2003 Touring (with nav) only has 58,000 miles and is the Le Mans Sunset Color. I got him down to 13600 and he said thats as far as he can go. I think this is a pretty good deal, am I correct?

The only thing I noticed about the car is that the clutch is much more stiffer or "firm" (harder to push in) than the other 350z's ive been test driving. What does this mean normally? Also the transmission was fine but for one time I switch from 1st to 2nd at low revs and had a little donk feeling I believe... however I am new to manuals so.. could just be me, it seemed to work fine when i pushed it though.

And it also had a catback exhaust which i found to be quite annoying.. how much do stock exhausts run? I believe I would want to switch back.

Thanks

I had someone tell me that a stiff clutch meant a new clutch... and had someone tell me it meant a clutch that was about to go out....

So I am confused lol

No one have any words of wisdom? The only thing that worries me is the exhaust.. and normally the type of person who put that exhaust on probably drove the car hard. However, the exterior and interior of the car had been taken care of.. so maybe not.

Anyone know how much a nissan dealer would charge to inspect the car? I may go that route. I like the car a lot, just the mechanical stuff worries me, especially after i read of the 2003's problems.

i would usually be cautious w/ cars that have been modded. that sunset one is through private correct? was the owner like a young looking guy or what?

you don't have to go through nissan to get an inspection. any reputable mechanic you know should be adequate. test drive the car also to check signs of tranny issues and what not. major issues w/ the earlier models (03, 04) were symptoms of tire feathering and gear syncro issues. for tire feathering, just make sure its within factory alignment specs, esp the toe. getting harder compound tires will help too. as for the tranny, earlier variants are i guess weaker, sh!ttier than the newer models but as long as you don't drive like an idiot, you should be fine. also, getting an extended powertrain warranty wouldn't be a bad idea as well. ask that owner if he had is tranny replaced. if so, make sure its the CD009 revised tranny model.

No the sunset one is at a used car dealer... he bought it at an auto auction. It is a 2 owner, first owner was in california and owned it for like 4.5 years then moved to tennessee and got rid of it then it says it was owned for like 4 months and then sold at an auto auction. The guy who owned it for 4 months worries me.. it says a loan was even reported for it, who would buy a car and then get rid of it after 4 months. Maybe financial reasons, or maybe it had problems.. I have no idea.

I just thought the Nissan dealer would be best. The car is about 2.5 hours away from where I live so I do not know a reputable mechanic. I am going to call Nissan and see how much it would be on Monday.

The car was in great condition, just the stiff clutch and a slight donk going into 2nd one time going into gear.. but it could be me, like I said I am fairly new to driving a manual...

Ok.. the guy is going to take it to the dealer so they can look it over only $84 so no big deal.

However, in the mean time im looking at another.. Here are the pics http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLan..._photos_button

She says its an enthusiast, but looking at the wheels and brakes it a track.. the exhaust is bigger than normal. Did the track models come with different exhaust? Or is that an aftermarket exhaust?

Ok, so they said it does need a new clutch, and front brakes, along with a battery. With that said Im going to look at another Z tomorrow.

It has a JWT clutch already installed on it.. just wondering what to look for in that clutch to make sure its ok. Compared to the stock clutch im expecting it to be stiffer..

Thanks

Ok guys, Looked at the blue one with the JWT... It had been in 2 wrecks, you could tell, so I passed.

I ended up buying the orange one with 58,000 miles on it today. I will have to replace the clutch and exhaust but I feel I got a decent deal. Paid 13500, bluebook in good condition was 15000.

Here are a few pics http://www.vehix.com/inventory/Vehic...nMiles%253D200

Thanks for the help, Hopefully this car will last a little while.

Why do you have to replace the clutch and exhaust?

Got it inspected by the nissan dealer.. the clutch is near going out. And the exhaust is some aftermarket catback I found annoying, so ill probablly go back stock.
