MSRP Boycott?
I've been calling around to many dealers in and around the California S.F. Bay area in an effort to find someone that will order me a Z for MSRP. I may have found 1 dealer that will do it ( "he'll call me back" ). Of the other 10 dealers I called, they all wanted 5 to 10 K over! I really want a Z, but I refuse to give these greedy bastards any more than MSRP, and I'll wait a year if I have to.
I just hope by posting this thread I can get others to do the same? These jerks are making pure profit at our expense!

It's a good idea, but I think there are too many people willing to pay over MSRP for the boycott to work. Have you tried complaining to Nissan North America?
They said that they discourage dealers from overcharging and may not give more Z's to dealers that are price gouging. I think you need to get people to complain to Nissan North America about specific dealers.
Good luck getting hold of your Z.

if everyone did this then dealers would have to adjust their prices. Unfortunately, some people have money to spend and will pay for it. You should have preordered like the rest of us.
ps. are you related to raceboy?

spaceboy, I'm in the exact same boat as you. I'm in the bay area trying to find dealers that aren't "adjusting" their prices. Unfortunately, I havn't found much, but if I do I'll post. I'm also unwilling to pay much of anything over MSRP. Hopefully I can find something
Otherwise I'll be waiting for the next factory orders to start.

Of course NOW I wish I had pre-ordered. I remember seeing pics of the Z back in Jan., I was just hesitant about ordering a car for which there was so little information...
oh well, I'll get one eventually!
Keep up the good work on the site... great reading.

I was getting the same stuff from the dealers in January when I was ordering the car. My advice is not a boycott of the Bay Area Dealers but just don't buy from them.
I'm going to SLO tomorrow to pick up my Z at MSRP. Go out of this area to find your car. Make it a road trip. That's how you get even, you do not give them your business.

Hey I just ordered my Z for MSRP just last Saturday. It's scheduled for a November delivery! Just show them that you have the cash and you are willing to deal. I went to Boardwalk Nissan in Redwood city, talk to Russell Gesher. Serramonte was willing to order it for me at MSRP as well, but after I told them what Boardwalk would do.

I pre-ordered from Freeman Nissan in Santa Rosa back in the beginning of Feb. after telling a couple San Jose dealers to take a hike with their $3K to $5K price hikes.
At that time they said they never add a dealer mark-up, and were asking straight MSRP for the Z. So far they have been very helpful. My Z should arrive in October, so hopefully their good behavior will continiue through delivery.
You may want to check them out and see if they are still selling with no dealer markup.
-D'oh!

Hmm... if somone is willing to pay $43k or more for a sports car, why not consider a BMW M Coupe? Very cool car. Lots of power. Very unique.
One of the great things about the 350Z is the relatively low price, but if money is less of an issue, it seems like there are some other very cool options out there.
Anyway, just a thought.

The only thing good about this is the pre-order cars just went up in value.

This makes me mad !!! I am here in Atlanta and have friends that are also looking at the Z's and have found the dealers are adding false mark ups to the cars over here tooo -- ie $4,000 charge for a paint protection package ??? etc etc ... !!
at out last monthly Club meeting for the Georgia Z Club we actually had a Nissan Rep from North America - that stated the dealers are to not be marking the cars above msrp and that they would be Disciplined for this by either taking away car orders etc etc ... so you can bet I will be copying this picture you sent - and see if I can get in contact with this rep.....
I dont think Nissan will be happy to see these mark ups !!

I keep singing his praises and for good reason he and dealership will do right by you.
Do you want to have a car at MSRP and have it shipped to you?
Then call Dan Ziegler @ Smithtown Nissan
631-361-9696.
What have you got to lose the cost of a phone call?
What have you to gain, the car of your dreams at a cost you can afford!
Your "dime" (I guess I'm showing my age, your $.25)

Brando222!!! Thankyou thankyou thankyou- I spoke with Russ Gesher at Broadway Nissan. He sold me a Brickyard touring for MSRP and a late Oct/early Nov. delivery! You rock, thanks for the tip. I owe you a beer!
Space...you have chosen the best color of the lot. I just took delivery of my Brickyard yesterday and the color is unbelieveable.
I'm glad you were able to get the car and hose the San Jose dealers by going elsewhere!
