I'm new to the forums, and I am looking for opinions on deciding between a couple of cars.

CAR 1: 2005 35th Anniv 26K miles, garage kept, perfect condition $18,900

CAR 2: 2006 Touring 51K miles, garage kept, excellent condition $17,500

CAR 3: 2007 Enthusiast 30K miles, Rays wheels (GT edition), garage kept, excellent condition $18,500

Now here's the catch: The '06 had an engine replacement performed by the dealership at 11K miles for water ingestion. Other than that it looks great, and the engine remains under warranty. The '07 has been lightly modified (clutch, exhaust, susp, custom stereo) but is returned to stock and is well maintained by a knowledgeable owner. Finally the '05 is practically a brand new car. Nothing is wrong with it.

Thoughts?

 

definitely the 07'. more power out of the box, low miles, enthusiast trim, and a decent price.

Welcome. Not a substantial difference between 26 and 30,000 miles. The Anniversary and Enthusiast have different features. Which best suits your needs?

I am leaning toward the 35th Anniversary Z right now because it does suit my needs. It is black with black interior, and that is my number one choice for color combination. Also, it is a great deal based on KBB value considering this model is pretty much fully loaded. Plus the seller is an older man who has babied the car for the 26K miles it has. I don't know if it is even his daily driver because he has multiple garages at his house.

Yes I see the point about the power differences between the '07 and the other two models. From what I understand, the '07 has slightly more HP and seems to have better low-end torque. However, I am a bit concerned about the fact that it has been modified (although not drastically) because this leads me to believe it has been driven hard for 30K miles.

 

how do you know he babied it? just cause hes older doesn't mean he doesn't like to WOT and have some fun with it.

 

Personally, there is no way I would pay more for an '05 than an '07. To me, there is absolutley nothing special about the Anniversay edition that warrants it's price.

 

Avoid the '05 anniversary and '06. Both have the revup engine, which is known for its Oil Consumption problems.

Definitely go with the '07 HR.

DO NOT BUY A REVUP.

This is right. PLEASE read the oil consumption sticky in the engine section. You said one of them already had the engine replaced - not for water consumption but oil consumption. That's all the proof you need right there. Go with the 07 for sure.

Thanks to everybody for all the input.

I ended up going with the '05, simply because it was the one I was most in love with. I wasn't happy that the '07 had slave cylinder issues, and I believe that it was driven hard just based on the conversations I had with the seller. Plus I wanted a touring model not an enthusiast, and I cannot afford the '07 touring.

The '06 had its engine replaced for water ingestion (previously stated), not oil consumption, however the warranty on the replacement engine was not transferable.

I know most of you may not agree with my decision, and that's fine. I'm happy with the car. From what I understand, the powertrain warranty lasts 5 years, so I still have a few months to watch and see if my engine is eating oil. I have read the sticky thread and know that I should probably start the consumption test asap with the dealership.
