Default Avg. Wear/Tear Fees @ Lease End?

Any experiences on people leasing 350z's and returning them to the dealer... what numbers are we talking about on wear and tear charges? I know this is abstract, but assume you have not damaged it bad but the dealer is being an *** trying to rip you off.

Usually they want you to lease from them again, else they try and get some money back outta you. Just curious to what those numbers could be like? Any one heard of stories of having to pay more than say $1000?

call your local dealer and ask them what they charge. it is also listed on your contract, which requires a bit of reading

No - I read some sample contracts. Its very grey - it says this charge will be "ASSESSED" at return of vehicle. Which is why I asked how general experiences have been. :-)

If I had a rental, I wouldn't WANT to drive it after a week of using it

Thrashing ftw

By sample I meant a REAL but VOIDED lease contract.

So what you're trying to say is the contract tells you a $ amount they charge for wear and tear. You gotta be kidding me.

They're not supposed to charge you for things like brakes, as long as they're above the wear limit. But they can charge you for bringing them a car with worn/bald tires. And it also depends on WHO you lease through. If you go with Nissan Financial, they're a bit more lenient with lease returns (but still not very good). If you go with Hann Financial, then you're pretty much asking to get f*cked.

When I returned my dad's FX35 exactly one year ago, we returned the car with 20k miles (for a 39 month period!). And instead of saying thank you, Infiniti/Nissan got pissed at us for not buying another Infiniti on the spot and decided to try and charge us $250 for a tiny scratch by the gas cap/door. Clearly they were looking for the smallest thing to charge us, because somehow those geniuses missed a massive key mark that spanned across the hood.

Either way, we never paid them a penny. My dad called them and bitched them out that we gave them a mint condition car with a meager 20k miles on it, and they have the audacity to fine us $250 for a scratch we've never seen? The finance manager on the line was confused and upset why we didn't get another Infiniti. So my dad lied and said he didn't need a car because he was leaving the country for six months on business. The manager asked if he'd get an Infiniti when he returns, and my old man says "only if you adjust this charge to read zero". And she did.

And then took delivery of the Audi about 45 minutes later.

The Infiniti was the last car we ever leased. The Audi was bought. My mom's 2009 Golf was bought. And my 350Z was also bought. Leasing is for suckers, to be honest. Even my brother just bought his M6 out of the lease.

I am not a fan of leasing either because there are so many variables - money factor, residual, wear and tear fees in the end. The dealer can really play around these. Its so simple in buying. Shoot him an email saying you want $1000 below invoice and you're done.

Anyway, my problem is similar to leaving the country for 6 months. I am on a temporary work visa which may or may not turn into something permanent since they're changing so many immigration laws in these times. Thats the reason why I'm considering leasing instead of buying.

Having said that, what I'm trying to gather from this forum, are stories like yours. Thanks for your reply (the ones before yours were FLUFF as you can see). I'm trying to factor out the "loss" I would go through if I lease. I know its gonna be a loss - but it will buy me other securities that someone in my situation would value. So your number was $250 upon not re-leasing another Infiniti. Thats what I'm going around asking - I wanna know how much people have paid on "excessive" wear (which in our world is really "normal" wear). Would you say budgeting $2000 is a decent number for this?

dudafunk-

Is this a factory lease or bank lease?

Look for the following:

Turn -in fee: The bank I work for charges $395.00

Excess mileage over what your contract allowed: .18/mile? .25/mile?

Excess Wear and Tear- any body damage? worn tires, cracked/chipped glass?, tears in seats, interior scratches? stains in carpet (not mats)? nothing wrong with motor?

My bank charges reconditioning fees based on industry standrds to repair (parts/labor)

Also a transportation fee if you do not return the vehicle to an auction the bank uses to liquidate the vehicle

Hope this helps

not that this is related but I find it really sad when someone leases a car because the monthly payment is cheaper then purchasing a car. I've seen someone lease an 08 TL-S (when they were new / 40k cars) because they could afford the payment, with the intent to purchase the car at the end of the lease, only to get knocked on their *** and have to hand the car back over. pretty financially irresponsible to try to use a lease as a ****in extended car loan.

I guess factory lease would be better on the Z?...
transportation fee for taking it to the auction! lol wow never heard of that! I have seen Infiniti's lease contract, they didn't have this on it, I'm guessing if the Z has it - I should spot it mentioned clearly on the lease right..
