Default Trading '07 Maxima in for '06 350z - Mileage Help

Hey guys! My first post here. I might buy a 2006 350z tomorrow, but I'm unsure of one thing. The car's odometer is in MPH, and it's mileage is at 42,xxx. I asked the salesmen if that's in kilometers or miles, and he said kilometers. My Maxima's odometer is in MPH, so it's showing the mileage in miles. Is there a way to change the mileage from miles to kilometres without swapping the whole gauge cluster?

Not that I have ever heard of. Look in the owners manual.

Also, how do I find out if the car has the oil consumption problem?

Welcome. If the speedometer is in MPH than the odometer is in miles.

You can do a oil consumption test but you would have to drive the car several thousand miles.

So the douche bag sales person lied to me? Not surprised. Thanks for the reply, man.

If there was any work done to the car, would it show up if I run a CarFax? Or take it to a Nissan dealer, and maybe they could tell me?

Good luck with that. My 350 had flood damage and the dealer sold it without disclosure. Lied to me and said they were going to wholesale it, then put it on their lot for over twice what they gave me in trade. Don't expect a dealer to be up front unless you have one of those rare ones that is honest.

Wow, that sucks. Did you end up keeping the car?

No. They said they were going to sell it to a wholesaler, so I made a rash decision and traded. Then they turned right around and sold it on their lot.

In the end, I'm the dope who bought their sales pitch, but after screwing with the car for nearly 3 months, I was tired of messing with it. New (salvage) engine, catalytic converter, O2 sensor, BCM (salvage), and clutch. Replacement engine had coolant and oil leaks that they couldn't seem to get fixed. I spent more time at the dealership than I did at home.

I can't blame them for my rash decision, but I HATE being blatantly lied to. As Dave Ramsey says, I'm paying the stupid tax. I just have this crazy notion that people should be honest, knowing all along that they aren't.
