Default Sk2 for a 350z?

Hey guys!i currently own a 2003 s2000....i live in Sacramento. the car has about 90k miles on it....i am getting more and more interested in a 350z, But still not to convinced to decide to go for one? if i do decide to go for one it would be 07 and up. I would really like to test drive one to really see if i love it or not. The thing i love about my car is that go kart type of feel, i feel like i have control of all the car, and just the way it handles, and just love the sound of the car when i step on it. Any input on the Z and the way it rides and performs would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Go test drive a Z. You'll like the torque. You'll like the extra room you have. You'll like it's creature comforts. You won't be as thrilled with the handling. The S2k is 3-4 hundred pounds lighter and the difference shows. All in all, the Z is a great car, just like the S2K is a great car. They are just very different.

Drive a Z and see what you think.

The Z feel more 'grown up' to me than an s2k in almost every respect. That 'cart' feel isn't there but it's replaced by sharp capable handling that is thrilling in a different way

with upgraded suspension the Z will handle like your s2k, if you plan to track it or autox. but as a street car, i would choose the Z because of its looks and speed.

I come from many different cars but before I bought my Z I was also really looking at an s2000. I liked the way the s2000 drove but it was very small and didn't have much storage room. (the Z isn't that much better) I ended up with the Z because of the room and power. The torque is really nice. I had an Rx8 so i was used to the 9k but I remembered the power band. All I can say is test drive one see how you like it. You will notice the weight right out of the box. But you will also get used to it after you drive it for a little bit. If you have questions you can PM me i was on your boat just a few months ago.

Just go take a Z for a test drive, see how you like it. No one here will be able to explain to you how it feels compared to your S, a test drive is the way to go.

the closest comparison to the s2k is the rx8. the s2k is more than showing its age i would waite and pick up a used 370 the z33 body has been out for 6 years now

how the heck do you compare s2k to rx8? rx8 is POS period. s2k and 350z is in same category and you can compare rsx to rx8. And to OP, I had 06 350z purchased brand new and I traded in for 06 s2k which is what I have now. To tell you the truth, I feel that s2k is more fun to drive around because it handles like a go kart but coming from 350z, i really miss the torque and power and being able to have fat *** lips for my rims. I don't think you can go wrong between the two so you should just go out and test drive one to see it for yourself.

I have driven a few Z's and a few S2k's on different tracks....

The S2k dances better than the Z but the Z pulls much better down low.

It's not like the Z's handling is "bad". The Z handles well, just not as well as the S2K.

That being said, I think the Z's "always there" power delivery overcomes the handling disparity.

but ive driven both under all kinds of circumstances. I've owned 3 350zs. that being said, id take the 350z any day (why would i keep coming back if i was lying?)
The s2k is a neat little car, but those motors can only take so many years of 9K redlining (ive heard a lot of AP1 motors are blowing up nowadays), the tops inevitably have to be replaced, and you have absolutely no room. the owner of Blackline Motorsports is 6'7". he literally can not sit in the s2K, whereas he can sit in a 350z, though still kinda awkwardly.

so from my years of experience with the Z, id say sell your s2k and go that route, or consider an RSX Type S
best of luck.
