Default !!!AHH!!! tough decision here... what would you pick?!

I have a month until im back in country, I have two sellers selling cars im interested in buying.. here are the two cars with details.... both come with navigation

FIRST CAR
2003 performance model with 31k miles... for ***15,000***
a little over bluebook, but the car has over 15k invested, and is supposedly VERY clean... im out of country for another month, he took this car off the market for me, in confidence it will still pass a pre purchase inspection test..

http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture116.jpg
http://i400.photobucket.com/albums/p...Picture119.jpg

comes with...
FULL veilside version III body kit
veilside CF hood,
veilside CF wing,
veilside teardrop titanium exhaust
nismo CAI
aftermarket mirrors,
nismo shift ****
xenon headlights

(main issue here is... if I **** up that body kit, its going to be a ton of money to fix... and just seems like a high maintenance thing...)

SECOND CAR
2004 TRACK model with 27k miles... for ***16,000***supposedly VERY clean also, the guy is really cool, and is over 40 years old and has been garaged a lot.. this is actually under bluebook with the 19+ wheel and navigation options...
http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/1695638785.html
car is STOCK except a K&N CAI and the rims....

OR!!!! should I just keep my eye open for another month, and not commit to eather car???

I appreciate your opinions and any help you guys can give me!!! what would you do?

Don't know your price point you're trying to stay under...but HR's are going for pretty cheap now. I wish I waited it out and knew more about the car before jumping at the first good deal! I'd wait it out...

IF that's not an option...I'd wait. Try and at least go w/ '05-'06...because I've seen them go for those around 15-17k.

I bought my 03 track with 120k on it for 7500.. i could buy a new engine and have a new paint job and still not even be paying 16000. Even though everything is perfectly fine. Food for thought.

The prices you are being quoted ($15 and $16) are ridiculous. Make a $12 offer or forget about it.

What you really need to be asking yourself is; who parks their car on a rug?

I dono man.. that 04 track model is really clean, the guy sent me more pictures.... and its at bluebook.. so i dont see how you can say his price is high

since I dont really like those wheels, maybe I can offer less without those wheels?

I say get the track edition. Being owned by an old guy/virtually stock likely means it wasn't hotdogged quite as badly as others. Plus it's a cleaner slate to start off with when it comes to mods. I wish mine only had 27k on it

I would keep looking, those two seem in good condition, but personally I hate the veilside, especially with the stock wheels on it, dear god it looks like you're driving a bread truck with those offsets.

the second one has the opposite problem, no body kit (which is fine), but then the most hideous wheels ever designed. I mean its a much easier fix, sell the wheels and get new ones that dont suck.

so I would lean towards the 04 track if I had to choose between those two.

^+1. You are going to be dropping some serious coin for a wheel/tire combo for that widebody kit..

Your flaking now, I thought you were dead set on that veilside one when asking about wheels in your other thread.
Anyways, if you "HAVE" to get one of those two, get the second one.
in reality - shop around when you get back cause your not going to buy one of them till you get back and check it out in person anyways.
personally think you can come across a better deal.
On a different note.
Nothing wrong with throwing a 12k figure out there on a blue book 16k car, called negotiating. You won't know unless you try to see if he would take the 12k but if you insist on paying 16k because the blue book says so then by all means pay that.
Blue book or any book for that matter has nothing to do with what someone will accept when they are in need of $.
Not saying he is in need but i'm just saying.

I have an 03 track, and while I am very content, even my roommates 06 Rev-up is a very noticeable improvement in usable power band and engine response...Wait for the right HR to come around, cause that would be an even larger improvement and one that you will be glad you have when you get used to the speed of the car.

And furthermore, like everyone has stated, those both look pretty terrible. I would say an absolute "no" to the first and ask if he has the Rays for the second one. If he does, I would still only offer 13k at best.

also, the stock wheels on the veilside Z are hilarious. the 2nd Z has some ugly *** wheels too.

I see a wheel investment in either choice.

Awesome... thanks a lot for the responses guys...!! HR engines are 05-06 right? So, the high oil consumtion thing isnt a BAD issue? you just need to change your oil more and take good care of your car.. (which I plan to do anyways...)

Agreed, I would have to spend a lot of money for wheels for that widebody kit Z...
and also agreed those 20" foose wheels are pretty ugly...
Im gunna find something else
plus im in afghanistan for 4 more weeks with nothing to do but look at cars!

thanks for the feedback
