Default Nismo pricing/purchasing questions.

Hello all. Ive found a 2008 ppw nismo z I'm interested in. I have drove it and visited the dealer although the day I did so, they were having a sale and wanted to try and talk me into buying that day. After many failed attempts I gave up and drove home and explained to them that I would recontact them at a later date. Everything on the car seemed fine, minus a lil gunk on the cubby hole door on the dash. They originally had it listed for 31,995. I have been slightly in contact with the dealer through email and have told them if they would be willing to deal on the price a bit I'd take the car off their hands. I told them 25,500 range and I'd take it. I know this dealer transferred the car from another dealer 300 miles or more away because it didn't sell. I dont think it will at that price either. Reciently I've noticed they dropped their price to 28,999 on their site. I still think that is to much. I had it in my head that if they would accept 25, or 26 I should jump on it. It is the car i'd like to have but there are others just like it around also.

any help would be appreciated. Thank you

You want to be in the 25 to 26 range, so ask them to split the difference between 28,991 and 25,000. See if they'll do that, it will give you a good idea of how much they own the car for. They'll probably come back and split that difference but stick to your guns. Till you get the price that you want.

Idk but when spending that much $ why go with the older body imo it just makes more sense buying the 370. Your buying a car thats been out for 7 years opposed to buying the z34 for a couple grand more. its a better financial decision also when considering resale value also. just something to think about

The car would not be resold and I don't like the 370. Don't like the looks except for the nismo model and I don't like the new gauge cluster.

I'm not in any hurry to buy a car so I can wait them out. There's a few other low mile ppw nismos for sale around the south so eh if someone else wants it for 29 they can have it. The nismo already has many things done to it I'd do if I had a base or other model. Nice aero package, suspension, seam welded and a nice factory exhaust. I agree the 370
is more proformance but for my needs I'd be happier with the 350. Although there is a 370 in tx that someone modded already for sale used that I'd jump on. Nice car. Rly.

Also thank you for the quick replies.

$25k is more than fair, IMO. When I went to see the new 370 last year, the dealer had a "new" 08' NISMO 350 for sale. I say "new" because it was never titled and had 13 miles on it, but it was still almost 2 production years old. They were selling it for $25k, so that has been my barometer ever since.

I've seen a few used PPW NISMO 370s for sale also, as I was helping my friend in Austin look for one. They were in the $31-32k range. If you like the look of the NISMO 370, I think that's a better way to spend $30k unless you can steal a NISMO 350 for less than $25k. You may have to buy privately, but I've never had a problem with that. Alternatively, you can talk real bucks with the dealer - they'll listen at some point. Of course, don't offer $25k on a $29k car if you only want to pay $25k. Your first offer should make them wince at surprise, and you can negotiate from there. When I bought our used Titan a few years ago, they asked "where did you come up with that amount?" and I simply said that it's what I think is fair. I had to leave the dealership twice to prove I was serious, and the 2nd time they came running out to the car as we were leaving and indicated they would take our offer. I was in a similar situation as you - no rush, and taking my time shopping. It's not like these cars are all that rare, regardless of what the dealer indicates.

Thank you scotts. I live north of Nashville tn and I drove down to Huntsville al to see the car one day. They tried to talk me into it and I calmly told them that I wasn't buying today. Eventually it got so bad that when I said goodbye they asked what I would give them for it today and I laughed and said about 30$ because that's what was in my wallet in cash. I explained to them that I understand it's a limited edition of the car but I showed them 2 others just like it within a days drive also for sale. I even tried admitting to them that a lil bit of markup is ok because they have to make some money or else not be in business but they wouldn't come down from 29k. I'll call the guy again in a few weeks or so. I don't rly wanna get rid of my car now either but if I don't the nismo will have no where to sit.

Thank you guys again!

The only way to find out is to visit the seller and make an offer.

I did. The point was I think they are expecting to get more than the car is worth.
