Its all about your needs. I WANTED a model with all the bells and buttons, but the one i looked at sold that day. So I re evaluated, and to me, getting a ppw one was most important (2nd to getting an HR) so i went with a LOW miles base that doesnt have LSD or Cruise control. And since i dont track it or drift, ive ran into no problems.

You can get a speeding ticket in any model as i found out yesterday
Could not agree more. I would rather drive a VQ35DE with 50,000 miles than a VQ35HR with 100,000 miles. Same price of course.

As for the ticket, that blows man! I can understand your frustration. That would horribly **** me off as well.
No no no. You get the Z first - then we talk forced induction. That's the rules.

Very good point, I've been leaning towards the VQ35DE anyway. If I want more performance/higher rev, I am sure there is a mod out there for it, ne? Plus, that way I pay less and can mod more, or just save some money. This is my first project car, so it would give me more money to work with .

Buuutt, I wanna get FI NOW, so when I get the Z I will be really quick! Haha, agreed, it was just a thought. I like to think ahead, but you maybe right, I am getting ahead of myself.

So, I've been obsessively researching the 350z the past few weeks from this site and others. I've decided that I will purchase a 6MT 2006 350z Enthusiast or higher trim. It seems the extra money is worth it due to the revisions made on the 2006 model year, Rev-UP, suspension changes, etc.

I am going to wait until after Feb 13th or so, after my bday and college classes start to get it.

Now time to decide what color! I didn't think I would like it as much at first, but I really like the white. I also like Blue, Gun metal, Black, and silver(from left to right, love the most to like).

Thanks again WhyNot?Z & davidv for the help. I am looking forward to discussing more with you when I have my 350z.

Cheers,
HydeCiel

Since you decided on an 06. Let me help you. Don't be afraid of the oil consumption issue as most don't have it, or they all have been replaced by now. There's many of us with 06's without problems. Myself being one. For color choices. You can't go wrong with red, black, or the special color for 06. Can't remember the name but its like brickyard but changes in different lights. Anyway look for an 06 track, they come standard with brembos, diffusers, and is an incredible package. Sure do wish I didn't buy a base model.

Thanks for the great advice, so the Track version eh? Even if I plan on modding mine? Did you mod yours, or are you keeping it stock?

Buy a HR, youll love yourself for it afterwards, test drive both, and notice which one feels better for you, plus under 07+ , the hazard button can be a annoying issue.

First off, congratulations on your purchase of your black base 2003 350z with 65k miles.

Secondly, project cars are simply that. Project cars. You can drift them, autocross them, smash them into a wall; but they always make it home because they are project cars. The key to a good project car is a nice truck and trailer

If you do not know a lot about cars (as quoted), do not turn your Z into a project. It will be wasted money. Just drive it stock and enjoy. A good driver can do very fantastic/good/superb/awesome/project type things in a 100% stock Z.

It will be a project car of sorts. I have another car as a daily driver so I am not worried.

I am definitely new to working on cars, but one of the reasons I got this car is to learn on. Also, my family is full of mechanics, so I am sure I will be fine there.

I am not going to go mod crazy with it honestly(mainly add a LSD, not sure if anything else, maybe Tein Extended Tie Rods), but I will be autocrossing, leisure driving, and possibly drifting it.

Yeah, I wish I could trailer the car. I just wouldn't have a place to store the trailer, also I would have to buy a truck. That is one reason why I won't be going mod crazy with her. Now, I was thinking about getting a small tire/equipment trailer for my 350z so I have extra tires/equipment at the track.
