Default Good deal - Should I buy - '06 Base????

Guy at work has a nice looking 2006 Base, Standard Trans, White Z with 64k miles. He's asking $14k in California (higher prices). The car is all stock except for an upgraded stereo.

HE SWEARS THAT THERE ARE NO OIL BURINIG/LEAK ISSUES. I grilled him on this subject 4 or 5 times and he says there are no issues with it losing oil. He changes his own oil every 4k miles with synthetic and the car looks like he takes good care of it. On first impression, I trust him. He's selling because he just got married.

It does have a lot of paint chipping on the hood, but it sound like that's typical.

Anyway, I was thinking about offering $12k and wanted to know what you guys think?

Thanks for your help

If you want to lowball the guy and annoy him go ahead. Seems like his car is very fairly priced as is. Try and go a little lower maybe, but seriously, on a 14K car, 2K is a pretty serious chunk of the asking price. I'm going through this selling my car right now, and if you can't afford the car, then quit wasting his time. I would offer at least 12.5K. Seems like a great deal for the car though

also, instead of making threads like this, why not do a little research for yourself and look up book value on the car and what others like it are going for on autotrader?

Thanks guys.

Wasn't sure if $14k was the right price for a 06' BASE with 60k+ miles. I forgot to mention that the tires are new. It did blue book around that price, but I wasn't sure how reliable KBB is anymore. I also didn't think 12k was a lowball, but, as you said, that's a pretty significant reduction off of 14k. Maybe I'll go $13k and see what happens.

Welcome. Paint chips on the front number are typical. Chips on the hood are not. It never hurts to make a realistic offer: $12,600.

Thanks david. Yes, it has quite a few chips in the front part of the hood. Also, the paint on the interior door handle is pretty much toast. Wonder what it would cost to have the hood and bumper re-shot?

$12.5 might be right?

I say do what your saying and dont go higher than 13K. If you say the guy has taken good care of the car then he isnt lying. Tell him what you will have to fix once you get the car and that also remind him you dont get a lsd which you will have to buy for 1k plus. Like i stated dont go over 13K plus.

Here is the info on the car - for 12.8k sounds pretty good IMO? - I think I will pull the trigger - can't wait:

Up for sale is a 2006 clean title 350z.

-6speed
-300 hp
-63xxx miles
-clean title
-brand new tires all around
-bi-xenon headlights (HID)
-pikes peak white
- upgraded stereo, bluetooth and ipod streaming
-oil changed every 4k miles with modil 1 synthetic
-engine all stock
-very clean and well maintained
-drives great, no rattles or noises

The reason for selling is that just got married and need a car that we can both drive and that is bigger

Did you offer $12,600 as I suggested? Did the seller accept your offer?
