I mean its not really difficult to subtract 3%+whatever 2-3hundred dollar processing fee in your head.


But do you think I should offer them base price? When ever Im in the dealership the salesmen always goes to the manager and puts together an out the door price initially.

 

Sales people love games like "I have to run this by the manager." And also the absurd $300 processing fee. Its a wonder I get out of the dealership with a car not having to strangle someone.

 

just thought id throw my recent experience in the ring. i just picked up my 07 NISMO 350Z. I called up the dealership who was over 350 miles away, and basically told them that i had found 4 of the exact same MB 07 350z nismo... all of which had less than 25k miles and were all in perfect condition. i told them on the phone that i live far away but i am going somewhere TODAY to pick up my car and that i already have the funds ready to go. i asked for their bottom dollar they would accept and i told them what offers i have already been given. i also gave them the information on where to see the ads for the same cars. once they realized ive done my homework, they talked numbers and came up with $25,500 OTD price.

once i got there, they tried to tell me that they quoted me the wrong price and forgot to add the correct taxes and dealer fees. well this made me so furious that i got ready to walk out and the sales manager appeared (as i was getting ready to leave) and told me he would fix the price. so my final bill of sale stated: 23,000 for the car; then add in taxes tag, dealer fees blah blah blah... my final total was 25,900. i feel that i came out on top seeing as KBB quotes the NISMO Z as $30,710.00.

moral of story. feel free to pressure them back and prove that you are serious. when you first talk to the salesman, have papers in hand with all your information and where you got your info so they can see it. if you can, have the check in hand and a pen handy. and push them for the right number. and tell them you are ready NOW!

one extra note. i actually started to buy a local G37 coupe at the local nissan dealership... until the dealer (i guess) assumed i couldnt afford it and while i was looking at it, he locked it up and walked away... needless to say i drove the NISMO Z by after i got it and let him know how bad he F***ED UP!

 

Found two 2008 in penn, but the dealership wants like 28k for them. There are a few local 2008 350z that just poped up, hopefully Ill have time next weekend to go look at them.


Im bout to start looking at 370s if I cant find a 350 in this price range...

Can I expect that since the 2008 years leases will end soon that there will be a large number of used g35 and 350z entering the market soon?

 

well idk know about you guys but i waited a year or so to buy my 350z, i was checking autotrader and CList everyday... haha; then i found a CLEAN title black 07 base for $14,500, and let me tell you it was clean, i guess this dealership didnt know what they had, im a machanic and i checked the car top to bottom before buying and it all checked out fine. I spent a day or two talking to the dealership manager trying to lower the price, it kinda worked, the final result was that i drove away in my new clean 07 base for $13,500 out the door.

 

last base I saw in my area was asking 21$

 

well from Z shopping experience its depends on where you live and the homework you do. I can Tell you personally what you see online is about the number your going to get. I been told by a few dealerships what they post online is pretty much the lowest they will go.

So if you think you can go in and hardball them for a few more grand, your gonna end up leaving with nothing. While shopping for my Z, I ended up fighiting the dealership for a couple hundred dollars that they didnt wanna let go. On the lot my Z was 23,995, but online sale price was 22,400. It took them 3 hours just to take $22 out the door.

Its funny cuz the salesmen thought i was desperate to buy that car, little did he know the lot across the street had another Z i've been looking at that was loaded and cheaper. So after arguing over a few dollars, i left, went to the other dealership that had another Z, told them what happened with the dealership across the street, they gave that dealership a call that i had been fighting over pennies with and as soon as i got home, The first dealership magically reached the # i wanted and was ready to give me my Z because they knew I was ready to make a deal with another dealership with them calling asking about my situation

Moral of this story, do your homework, show the sales guy that your not desperate, and will walk away in a minute even though u have money in hand ready to buy. Have back up's paperwork showing other lots and what deals they have compared to theirs. Also no matter what stick to your guns. If you think the amount your willing to pay is fair, stick with it

 

Yeah thats what It comes down to, as I stated earlier I am not looking to hold out for a once in a life time deal for grand tour for like 16k. I am willing to pay what I think is fair market price from what I have seen on here and in the surrounding areas. Trying to get something for 22k out the door with manual leather and thats about it.

 

got turned down by dealership today. test drove a 2007 black 350z touring with 22k. They had sticker price of $26,999, internet was $23,999. I sent the guy an email saying id do $22,500. He said I would have to come in before offer can be made(bs, but what ever). Well needless to say they wouldn't go lower than 23999 out the door.

They offered me 23600$ out the door(3% sales tax) on that 2007 convertible with 22k miles on it. Is this price too high? I feel like it is....

Only reason I am considering doing it is it has nav, body/interior is in perfect condition. And dealership(nissan) offers tires fore life or something if you get them rotated properly, which might be huge savings on a 350z

Yeah I mean the condition of the vehicle was excellent not a scratch or dent. There were two small gouges on both back rims about 1 inch long and maybe a few mm thick and deep. but the price isnt to high is it>?

Last year I paid $25K for a similar car (07 Touring Roadster, 23K miles, nav, NISMO exhaust), so no, I don't think $23K is too much. As previously stated, it depends on your local market. My area doesn't have the crazy low prices of some metro areas, and it booked @ about $27K when I got it, so I felt I got a reasonable deal.

 

Im still in the market for a z, havnt been able to go look at dealerships in awhile since I have been busy with work. I would assume the market for Zs here isnt all that great, being a sub of DC there is a great deal of traffic, and unless you like to shift you probably arnt getting a standard transmission. With that said it also seems like a majority of the people with money are driving bmws, acuras and audis.

Go see them at the end of the month and see if they budge any on the price.The closer you go to end of month they are willing to bargin because they're check is in the balance.If the end of month falls on weekend dont go salesman get better sales on weekend.Good Luck!

cars.com and autotrader.com arnt really all that great a resource for used cars. I find that alot more cars are posted on cl or just on the companies website as it is free posting. And

 

I didnt get a super hopping deal, but I just picked up a 08 6mt touring (with orange leather seats) for a tad over 26k, but it only had 4400 miles on it (obviously in immaculate condition). I was also kind of set on the seats as well, and I had limited options since I have to buy my car in TN to get it tax free (military).
