just keep saving your money and get a 370z and be done with it. Its shorter, faster, lighter, more power, well worth the money you'll be surprised for how much you can pick up a 370 for (I recently saw 3 in my area for around 22k with about 30k miles each and they didn't last very long). Even though i just got an 03 enthusiast i'm going to get a 370 pretty soon, i plan on collecting all the Z cars because No matter what year, their all awesome cars to have and drive and I wouldn't change anything about anyone of them.

Reason: spelling
The 370z is better for several reasons, but so is the 350z. At the time I bought mine, it made more logical sense to save 6-8k and ended up w/ a Touring 6MT NAVI with 10k miles, vs a 370z 40th anniversary edition (3 years newer) with 30k+ miles for 34-35k.

Does anyone know what percentage of '06 Zs were affected by the oil consumption issues? And if it is just a portion of the '06 model year, is there a VIN range?

Take a look at Consumer Reports. I think you will see a considerable difference between objective reliability statistics and my350z.com anxiety.
yeah, but there must be a reason that the rev-up engine only lasted 1.5 model years. companies don't normally keep an engine around for that short a cycle.

Bad press and $$$, tough to sell a car if the engine is known to fail.
After 8 months if you do not have a 350Z, then the Z is not for you. Have you looked at the RSX. You get reliability and performance in one package.
So just because my join date was that long ago you think I was trying to buy one the while time? Well your wrong. I knew I was not ready. I had just moved out and blah blah blah. But now I'm getting closer to being able to get one.
370 is not even on my list... I hate it and think its ugly.
My list kinda goes like this:
Nissan 350
Infiniti g35
Honda s2k
Wrx

I've been here since 2010 and just got my Z in at the begining of march 2012, he could of been doing extensive research like I was doing before I finally decided to get my Z
