Ever since I put down my deposit for my 06 Z back in Nov 2005, I have been looking for a front lip for the 06 Z front bumper.

As you all know, so far, ings LX sport is the only company that offically released a front lip for the 06 Z bumper.

It's almost 6 months later and I am tired of waiting for a Nismo lip for the 06 front bumper (If there will ever be one, no one knows). And the ings front half spoiler does look very nice too.

So I have decided to go for the ings front half spoiler. However, the problem is that the authentic one is quite expensive and I cannot justify paying that much for a front lip. After get a few quotes from different places, the cheapest quote is $632 USD shipped to my door. For those who live in Canada, stick on a 15% tax and brokerage fees, it may well be around $800 USD. Not to mention it's unpainted.

Now my last option is to go for a replica. But the problem here is that there's no replica for the ings front half spolier for the 06 bumper yet.

Here's where I need your opinion. Do you think it is possible to do a minor modification to the 03-05 ings front half spoiler to fit the 06 front bumper?

The White is the front half spoiler on a 03-05 bumper.
The Red is the front half spoiler on a 06 bumper.





I mean a minor modification to the area to increase the cut out area for the front bumper reflector on both sides. I believe there's no need to do anything to the middle for the indentation on the 06 front bumper. The front half spolier should cover the indentation on the 06 front bumper. Assuming the rest of the surface profile between the old and new front bumpers are the same.

If it is possible to fit the modified front half spoiler onto an 06 front bumper, then I will go and buy a replica 03-05 ings front half spolier.

Any thoughts and input will be appreciated.

 

NO. it is not a minor. Also, why add-on when you can do a full replacement? cost to prep and paint for add-on vs full bumper almost the same.

there are a few really clean full bumpers that will cost you the same as just
doing the lip
on my 06 i'm going the full bumper route............just don't know which one yet..................hmmmmmmmm

 

Pay the extra, you will be happier in the long run. I have seen people half azz the job and they pay for it in the long run.

 

I am in similar boat as you, so I feel your pain. I've decided to wait for Nismo or others to release '06 lips, which they are bound to some time soon after all.

 

I think the 06 Ings lip (and sides) looks great! Save up and buy the real thing!

And stop complaining about 15% tax... We have 25% here in Sweden + customs fee's etc, so usually imported parts are minimum 27-28% extra...

Whether it's ugly or nice, I am trying to get your opinion if the old front half spoiler can be modified to fit the 06 front bumer. A YES or NO will be more helpful then ugly.

 

GQ has the half kit Stray. hes just trying to convince people not to get it cuz everyone is getting half kits now lawl!

another option is to find a 03-05 bumper and get the lip installed that way...

 

I just called the Intense Motor sport and they said their kit is installabel on the 2006 now. It's 2000 dollars for that whole thing.

 

i was really on board with this kit but after reading about the scraping nightmares i decided to hold off on it for now.

 

But I prefer to keep my 06 front bumper.

For now, I will just cross my fingers and wait for the USDM Nismo front lip for the 06 bumper.
