Default A New 350Z pre-purchase question, I think ?

Hello all, New to the forum ! Was hoping to get some input on a specific 350Z purchase question:
Looking to purchase an 04,05 touring/grand touring roadster 6spd (not the one with the oil consumption issue) 350Z in the next two weeks and was wondering if anyone would recommend purchasing an extended warranty when buying from a dealer for peace of mind? for those who have purchased a used 04 or 05 in the last year or two or even three, what has been your maintenance/repair cost since purchase? speaking to those specifically that do not do the work on the vehicle themselves?? Did you buy a 3yr/36k warranty and never use it? did you Opt not to buy a warranty and wish you would have ??
Thanks in advance to all.. Look forward to learning from all of you.

What sort of coverage do you expect to find on a car already 7 or 8 years old? I'd be looking very closely at the fine print.

i bought my 05 touring 6spd from car max two years ago with 17k miles on it. it now has 36k miles on it. only problems i have had with it were the rotors were making an abnormal noise. car max covered it in their 30 day warranty. thats pretty much it. however i bough the 4yr/64k mile warranty for like $1.5k. the pretty much cover everything even if you mod the car. i would suggest getting an 05 over the 03-04 models because the 03-04 have transmission problems. some 05-06 have the 300hp rev-up engine. i have heard good and bad things about these. main bad things are the lack of aftermarket parts compared to the 03-05 since the wernt out for very long since the HR engine came out. If i were you i would get an 05 or an 07-08.

Not necessarily. If you have the older Zs without CD009 transmission, and your synchros happen to be going out, the extended warranty could save you $. Some cars you don't need warranty, some are nice to have (especially 6MT 350z). My warranty from Carmax was like $1300, and adds an additional 7 years on top of the car the day of purchase, and up to 72k miles. My Z being an 07 and purchased in 2011, had 10k when I bought it. So I got coverage up to 2018 or 72k miles whichever comes first. To me, it was worth it.

Extended warranty is a popular subject. Read other members experience with the warranty. You may be surprised with the extensive list of repairs that the warranty does NOT cover.

Sounds good ! im looking for a 2005 with about 50-60mi on it; 6spd. found a pretty good warranty company (a subsidiary of wells fargo bank) Ithat 4/64k warranty sounds perfect for the price.. Does the warranty allow you to take the car to the dealerhip for repair?
thanks
