When I bought my 2006 GT 6MT the dealer told me it was an Enthusiast model. At the time I wasn't yet familiar with all the different models of 350Zs since I was primarily looking at Mazda Miatas. I ended up lucking out when I bought it since it was actually the GT model and previous owner kept it spotless. I happened to be at the lot just after it was taken in trade and hadn't yet been detailed. I've had it for almost two years now and it's run flawlessly. So, sometimes you can luck into a much better deal than expected.

Sorry to hear your local dealership would blatantly lie about something like that. It's worth it to confront the manager about it. Not necessarily to haggle a new price or try use that as leverage in a negotiation, but just to let him know why he lost your business. Best to just walk away and avoid doing business with places like that.
