Default 03 Z with 231k auto? to buy or not to buy?

I am looking at a 350z 2003 model with 231k on it. And lady is asking $5500 for it. Says nothing wrong with it but one windows are not working and radio is not working. Car looks really clean not even sure if there is a dent in it.

She even said nissan place said she should not take any less then $5500 and that they wanted $350 to fix window and she will knock that off the price of the vehicle..

So im wondering what to be looking for? seems very high mileage and i know auto transmissions suck and are usually cost quite i bit. Wondering what you guys think. Thanks

What could possibly go wrong on a car with 231K miles? I say go for it.

Nice to know the Z can even last that long.

No that price is insane. I've seen many local ones with 100k go for around 10k. I know first hand it will cost around $350 for the window motor to be replaced by a dealer. Honestly you can do it yourself with the part for $200

Too many variables and if some dealer is telling her not to take less than $5,500 for the car have them buy it.

At the end of the day it has 230k on it and its auto. I wouldn't walk, but run away.

If you are proactive...I say buy it! Also start looking on craiglist for a non burning low mile engine and trans to replace the "engine that could" that in that Z...

then again it could of have several engine replacements...never know...

link to sale?

And i thought price was a little high for the miles also. But i am no 350z expert. It would be different if it was like lets say a toyota tacoma which many have over 250k miles still running fine. But being i have yet to see one with that many miles scares me lol.

The most i would pay for a Z with that many miles is 4K. Who knows how many miles that Z has left.

I went to the stealership the other day looking at 370's they offered me $4500 for my 04.5 350z because I hit a pole and replaced the bumper, headlights and crap under insurance, 18 at the time.
84k miles on it atm. haha what a joke. I'm sure the aftermarket clutch doesn't help either. Oh well. I'll keep her

^ I feel your pain a dealer low balled me on mine as well and mines mint with 47k. I'll keep it until I die lol

Op save up more cash or get a loan so you can get one with less miles. There's no telling what has been replaced with those miles. If you are dead set on it then ask for ALL maintenance records. If she has little to none that should be a red flag

If you don't have a prob with a AT car,I'd say buy it.
Prolly those are hwy miles driving to&from ATL?
Is she the original owner?Or,how many owners have there been?
No records on the car?I'd also price out a engine/trans change just
to see what your future investment may be.The windows fix&radio is
no big deal.I also live in Ga.Have noted some great buys in N.Ga.
Don't know why?You may take it to Z1 in Carrollton if you buy it to
have it gone over.

I wouldn't buy an auto Z, but if you're cool with that and confident about the maintenance history, then go for it.

The first z I drove was auto. I didn't mind it because it had good acceleration but I personally couldn't drive an auto everyday.

But I agree have a shop look it over as you're investing thousands and could be a lot more wrong then just the radio and window. My guess something big with those miles.

Honestly, this looks like a spam ad. There's no info on the car. No phone number, just the generic email. I'd really be cautious. The body also looks too good for 230k.

If you are comfortable buying a car with 230k+, go right ahead. Keep in mind the maintenance costs that come along with buying a high mileage vehicle.

pfft an auto Z with that kind of mileage is worth 3k max and is probably a time bomb.

Yeah i am going to pass, I don't usually buy auto's either but one plus side to a auto is gf can drive it lol.

And i dont think it is spam, we have sent about 15 emails back and forth she sent me about 25 pictures of it and even 2 videos i asked for of it. I have seen spam ad's before. Most just want money sent and they will pay shipping for you to get your car, this lady has told me she lived around dalton state college and where she works to come there if i wanted to see it. But anyways if the miles was not so high id jump on it.

I paid $7000 for 90k less miles and a touring model. I would pass purely becuase it's an auto, but secondly because it's has too many miles and thirdly looks like a base with cloth seats

yeah looks like base model

If it was a 6sp Touring or track for $5k i would buy it, but make sure you have enough money set aside for motor/transmission/suspension

Back when i was 16 (16years ago) i bought a 1984 Honda Accord with 210,000 on it for $900 and drove it until the timing belt snapped @ 248,000... clutch was also slipping last 6,000 miles, i just put oil and gas in it.... ended up just selling it for $150 as a parts car

With that said you can drive it until the wheels fall off and then just sell for parts, and remember 240x shells are getting rare so the new 240sx will be the 350z so the shell will have its own value to a DK :P
