To buy or not to buy?
Hey mates, I am new to this forum and new to Z cars however I have the opportunity to buy a 350z and I need some advice/tips from experts.
The car on sale:
2004 350z Touring...140,000 miles...
New Alternator
New brake pads/drums
Tires have 15k on them
Normal wear and tear on the exterior and interior, all stock.
Private party, asking for 7.5k, with how it looks right now (Not clean, dirty, can use this to my advantage) as well as looking for a quick sell since a baby is on the way. Just bought a new Jeep and owns 3 other cars, I dont think hes trying to get a lot for it. Thoughts?? Test drive is tomorrow!

Although the VQ motor is known to last upwards of ~200,000 when maintained properly, that is a lot of miles when considering buying. Will this be your only vehicle, or simply a weekend car? What is your budget? You can find a lower mileage Z (50-75k) for around $10-12k if you look around.

Where are the pictures?
IMHO, dirty isn't to your advantage... dust/dirt hides imperfections in the body (scratches, dents, etc.) I would request it be washed/detailed completely before you go take a look at it.
Also, verify that it is a Touring model by reading through this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/buying-leas...0z-models.html
In all used car sales (especially private party) cash talks. How much do you have to walk up to him with tomorrow? Seems like he is a motivated seller so that is also a huge plus, I wouldn't pay over $7k for the car at most based on the year/mileage alone
Good luck

Budget for car is 8k max. I have seen that thread and can confirm 100% that it is a touring. This would be a daily drive, however as a college student i drive 15 miles round trip to Uni and back home, work is 4 miles round trip, everything is close by. I will post pics

How many have you driven prior to this? Do NOT compare Zs to 240s or an ol BMW or something. HAS to be apples to apples. Drive a little bit higher priced lower mileage similar package(if available) to tell any differences. Likely the engine is fine, but items such as bushings/bearings/bolts(oh my) will cause this 7.5k car to be an 8k+ car if it needs more attention.
