You will wrap the z around a tree within your first week. Given your age and the fact you will most likely show off for friends it's a matter of time. Additionally, your age, lack of credit score and no driving history will make it impossible to have a low insurance rate. Even if you're under your parents insurance for the z it will be costly if you're listed as a driver.

Now that's an even worse decision to make. Way underpowered and oil consumption motor.

A friend of mine had one and bought it new. IT literally was in the dealership 35 times in the first 3 years he owned it. They even replaced the engine but still had issues, he eventually sold it after that. Most everything was covered under warranty but still not worth the hassle.

Insurance for a 16 year old will be most of one paycheck. Then gas and car payments will be 3-400ish a month. Thats not much leftover to save for maintenance and tires.

I will say this, tires can be had for much cheaper than $600 for the rears, especially on stock wheels. You're looking at some cheaper brands at 160-200 a tire, but they're still decent tires. I have nitto nt555 275/40/18 and they were $180 and the best tires I've ever had. You don't have to buy Michelin or Goodyear etc... to have a "good" tire. I had Ohtsu tires on my lancer. $40 a tire and they were absolutely amazing. And I've had my share of Michelins, Falkens and hankooks.

On my brother's 2007 GT Eclipse, his payment and insurance is under $350 a month.
Yes, if you weren't 16 we would look at it different. But a lot of the members here I'm sure remember what it's like to be young and dumb and want to go fast and (try to) impress the females with burnouts and speed and whatever else they thought mattered at the time.

That being said, however, I wish I would have had a car like this when I was your age, and as long as you can afford it, I say go for it. I was 23 before I bought my first "sports car," a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V, which I learned to autocross and had way too much fun with, and I was 24 before I bought my first crotch rocket and learned how awesome it was to go fast and take corners with my knee barely off the ground.

Had I bought a sports car when I was 16 (no doubt a fox-body 5.0), I would have had 7 more years of fun sports cars and experience behind me.

Just don't be stupid. Most accidents I've seen were either from inexperience or taken place in the process of trying to impress others. Take your new 350z to an autocross event and find out what your car can do, and learn to do maintenance yourself so you will respect the car not only for its' performance but also because you invested not only your money but yourself into it as well.
