Default Potential Buyer

Let me preface this by saying I have owned 2 Z32s in the past. I had a 1990 N/A 2+2, and a 1991 TT. Since then I have raised a family, and it has not been feasible for me to get another Z car. I am a Z car lover and have always wanted another one.

The opportunity has finally presented itself. There are problems though, and I would love advise. I don't ha e the greatest credit, and it's hard for me to get a loan. However, I found a place that could loan me the money for a 2003 350z Coupe. It has 122K on it and it's an auto tranny. The asking price is $8995.

My questions are, what should I offer for the car? How does the auto tranny drive? What are some things I should look for when test driving to lower the price? Any advise would be a huge help. Thanks in advance!

First things first, if you dont like auto, dont settle.

Secondly, it is not wise to finance a 350z due to how ild they are. Also with bad credit, the interest might be through the roof.

I know this isnt what you want to here, but my advice is to wait until you can buy cash or finanace a newer car. But if you MUST buy that one, i would say around 7.5k

Welcome- my first bit of advice would be to pass on a Z with an automatic tranny. Unless you live in such a highly congested city that you are sitting in traffic every day, the five-speed auto is not a good comparison to the six-speed manual. With 122K on the clock, there'll be plenty to replace--shocks, brakes, fluids--even if there has been some maintenance done. Does the car even come with a service record? Do you know which model (base, enthusiast, performance or touring) it is?

My advice is to continue looking for the right Z33 and work on improving your credit. Don't take out a sketchy loan from a used car dealer with a high APR.

Don't settle. Keep looking. Try to get into a better financial situation if possible.

Good luck.

Don't finance or settle. it's a deprecating asset.

For your own good, get your credit fixed first. That solves more problems than just getting a car loan. Also, the '03 has the lower HP engine (same as my '04) so the 6MT makes the car much more drivable, unless of course you spend daily time in bumper to bumper traffic. Lastly, I would be leery of getting a car with that many miles. I know there are reports of people getting many more miles with their Zs but you don't know the car's history, do you? Is the AT healthy? Could be other things going on. Fix your credit and keep looking. My 2 cents. Good luck.
