finance or not to finance that is the question ( through the dealership)
I will be financing the z, but when im calling around should i tell the dealerships that im am interested in financing through them? Chances are that i will go through my mom since she will get a good rate from her credit union but here is what im assuming: If i say i will (or atleast am thinking of) finance through them wouldnt they quote me a better price thinking that they will make it up on the finance? If i say i will be getting financing through someone else i imagine the wont budge much on the price? ur thoughts?
also wouldnt that push them to beat the rate i already have through the credit union?

Here's what I did, take it for what it's worth. I went online through http://www.stoneage.com/ and found the best price I could through the dealerships fleet manager. They didn't have the color I wanted so, I went to my local dealership and said, I can get the 350Z for $XX,XXX.XX from another dealership. I want the car you have in your lot and will buy it if you can beat the price. They hemmed and haahed for a day and called back and said yes.
I had already arranged financing through my bank for 4.25% I told the finance manager at the dealership that I would be willing to switch finance companies if they could beat my rate. They found one who gave me 3.9%, so I went with their finance company.
Moral of the story, have your ducks in a row and make the dealership work to get you a better price and rate. No need to negotiate, just tell them you'll buy if they can match your price. They'll figure it out.

Try reading this Cars.com article first. Then consider what you're most comfortable doing.
Keep in mind that there's precious little 'wiggle room' that any dealer is willing to extend to you on the Z. It's just too popular. The most likely best-case scenario is that the dealer will knock a couple hundred of MSRP, and whether or not you choose to finance through the dealership will (likely) have little effect on your final price.
And ask yourself if "scoring" an additional modest markdown from the dealer is worth paying an extra half-percent on your loan if you finance through them (it probably isn't...). Credit unions are awesome in regards to finance rates, and they may even offer a buyer's service. Try CarsDirect.com or ask the CU if they offer something similar. You'll still pay a premium for the Z, but you'll go into the transaction knowing exactly what the final cost of the vehicle is, and you'll be dealing with a seller who is serious about selling you a new car.
