MSRP Percentage
Over on zcar, someone brought up the question of whether most dealers were charging more than MSRP. I was curious, too, so I just added it to the 350Z Pre-Order Survey results page:
<a href='http://www.brackethead.com/350zsurvey/results/?show=2'>Paid MSRP?</a>
http://www.brackethead.com/350zsurvey/results/
The vast majority of people indicated they ordered at MSRP.

I have been talking to lots of dealers, and every one of them claim that they are the "only dealer selling at MSRP". I have yet to find even one that is jacking up the price around me.

My dealer made me order every option (mats, kick plates, etc.) except nav. He then forced every pre-order to pay for "paint protection" to the tune of $649.
I assume most dealers are doing likewise.

Some call it dealer prep, some call it protection package, some call it advertising fee (even though there already is one in the MSRP). It is all a bunch of crap aimed at making the dealers more money on a car that they are ALREADY making $3000-3500 profit on. The say it is MSRP but if you have to pay ANY of the above fluff charges, it IS NOT truely MSRP.
