I just filled up at $2.47/gallon for 91 octane last night here in So. Cal. BTW, we don't have anything higher than 91 octane here as of a few years ago.

quick question: why is it in cali that you can only get 91 octane, when in every other state you can get 93 octane? That is an outrage. Plus you guys (and ladies) pay more for the 91 oct. than most of us pay for 93 octane. is 93 octane illegal?

Why only 91 octane?... from what I've heard the biggest reason is money. Many would like to blame the CARB or the EPA but they are not entirely to blame. We pay more out here in Cali because of the oil companies and to some effect taxes. Gas is produced with all the other crude oil products in refineries. The refineries produce less of the higher octane and more of the lower octane because it decreases their cost and creates more available fuel to sell. Producing higher octane gas limits the supply of actual fuel available. California is the most gas hungry state in the Union with the most cars that require higher octane. The oil companies can get away with charging more for less quality gas because of the high demand and lower supply. Limiting gas to 91 octane means that there will be more fuel available for everybody. In areas where lower octane gas is more prevalent fuel supply is less of an impact because there is more of it..

By the way, you can buy street legal 93, 94 & 100 octane gas in CA. I think Union 76 stations are the only one's that sell it. Check their website to find these rare jewels and be sure to bring a big wad of cash or your platinum credit card. I heard that the 93 octane stuff is more than $5.00/gal. $100 for a 20 gallon tank!

I don't complain about the prices of gas at all....the rest of the world has it MUCH worse than the United States does. We've been spoiled for so long with VERY VERY cheap gas. Now when it gets a little more expensive people are up in arms.....retarded.

All I have to say is, if you can afford a 350Z...you should be able to pay between $30-$40 a week to fill it with gas....

I paid $2.17/gallon the other day for Mobil 93 octane, in Miami, FL. It's on it's way up though.

I decided to keep the revs down more in city driving (majority of my driving). I've gained about 3mpg and am up to 21mpg now.

Or in the UK $US 6 /gallon as I posted above. It costs me the £60 to fill up which works out at $US 110... per tankful. By the way at least 75% of the price of gas in the UK is TAX.

$2.11 for 91 here in Colorado. I lucked and topped my tank the day before they raised gas .13 cents.

I spend about $20 a month on gas between my wife's Maxima and My Z. We both live and work within .5 miles where we live.

Needless to say she drives and I walk or bicycle to work. Poor Z gets no sunshine anymore.

However, next month I am moving 15 miles from work, so we will be forking over $150 a month for gas. Think I am going to trade the Z and look at a Hybrid. NOT!

Just imagine what those SUV hogs are paying per fill up? Can you say $65 and up per fill up.

BTW, my dad is in the oil business, superintendent for a small oil company in Houston, Tx. I can tell you he aint making anything off of this. Dam OPEC!

I liked when I was in Saudi Arabia, gas was cheaper by the gallon than water.
