Hows gas prices in your area?
Just a little off topic, but still related to gas prices...
Unleaded 87 Octane $1.939
Mid Grade 89 Octane $2.019
Premium 93 Octane $2.079
WHY is it 8 cents per gallon more for a differnce of TWO Octane from Unleaded to Mid Grade, but it's only six cents per gallon for FOUR more octane from Mid Grade to Premium?
Oh, Sunoco 94 Octane is $2.179.. Soooo... TEN cents per galoon more for ONE MORE Octane?
SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN thsi marketing to me!!!

hmmm, lets see, here's an example:
$2.04 a gallon here, lemme drive 20 minutes and save .04 cents a gallon and then 20 minutes back.
So u save about 60-75 cents and yet you are spending almost triple that just to get there.
Well you get the idea. My mom always did that when I was little, she would drive 30 miles to save a few cents per gallon.
I never understand people that do that. Do you realize you are actually paying more by driving the extra distance.
BTW, how much are you saving per gallon driving that extra 20-40 minutes?
Not trying to bash you, but I see lots of people doing the same thing, and I still don't get it after all these years. Am I missing something here?

prices probably won't drop til most of the summer is over i think. they just started increasing production (as if it were gonna help any) and they blame it on US refineries not working well enough... then why is this guy from the UK paying 6 bucks for a gallon of gas? it's just politics...they tell u it's ur fault and then raise the prices on u while still keeping a straight face. AND then you have the iranians talking about how the increase in production is a result of "US propoganda".... i knew there was a reason why we didnt' like them very much.

I still remember back in the days when my father first got his car and gas was at the lowest $.89 / gal. Damn I filled up 2 days ago @ $1.99 / gal 93, now its $2.06, what is that. Oh yea abot the comment if you can afford the Z, you can afford gas, Hey I thought I could afford the Z back when gas was cheap, but if it keeps going up, I'm going to have to be on bread and water to keep my car , =(
dang.. California.
octane 87 - $2.34
" 89 - $2.44
" 91 - $2.54/gallon
and this is SELF SERVE! you gotta actually get out of the car and pump your own gas in california! haha

EXACTLY!! If gas prices go up $0.10 a gal, that's still only $2 at MAX per fillup. It's not that big of a deal guys. If you've got a $30K car and $2/week kills you, you might need to reconsider some of your financial decisions.

<~~~~~~~No tires yet, but I think feathering is occuring, thank god for the Nissan issuing another 2 yr warranty on the tires=), very happy about that. I feel really bad for the foreigners paying like $5-$6 / gal for gas. Damn gas seems to be a luxury over there, no wonder they had those little cars over there that gets like 80 mpg just to drive around.
We pay a lot less in the United States than in most other countries. I was reading some articles on cbsmarketwatch about oil futures and gasoline contracts. The commodity price of gasoline is around $1.38 per gallon right now. Add in taxes and transportation costs and you get to the $2.00 that most of us are seeing ($2.10 for 93 octane around here).
In late '97 I drove from LA to Miami. Gas was about $1.15 in LA at the time. I filled up in a few places in Texas for around $0.89 on the trip and we were at about $1.00 in Miami.... ah the good old days.
I've been working for middle eastern businessmen (mostly kuwatis and from the UAE) and they were commenting on how cheep oil was in late '98. At the time it had dropped to under $10 per barrel of oil and we are over $40 now (almost $41). Crazy stuff.

Guys its not the fact that we can't afford it, its the fact that we're being screwed by the oil companies. Theres not a good reason why they've been raising gas prices so much.
You ever notice when something bad happens that effects the oil supplies/production in some way its instant in how it effects how much we pay. But the moment something good happens it takes months for us to see the benefit of it.
Of course if gas keeps going up, it does change cost of living expenses and you'll eventually see other consumer items going up in price also.

Yeah, in the US, we only have about 30% tax on gas. But that's because WE won't stand for more than that. Europeans and canadians say, "you guys are lucky, you shouldn't complain". Wrong. Europeans, etc. shouldn't complain. They live in democracies, raise hell and change your contries tax policy. The only reason it's not higher here is because we won't stand for it.
That being said, I think oil will continue to ratchet up. Just search the net for Hubbert curve. It says that oil production peaks when the wells are half dry, and this happens in a predictable time from when the wells are first drilled. Most of the super wells were found in the 50's and 60's. They will run out. Then will have to use expensive to refine Heavy crude.
Also, there are about 1.5 million barrels a day just waiting in ANWR, jutst a few hunded miles down the road from equally sensitive Prudhoe bay which has been pumping 1 million plus each day for years.
Oh yeah, 2.23 for 93 here in Miami/ Ft. Lauderedale

Just 2 years ago it was $0.86 here for gas. Its now $1.89 for the cheap stuff.
Regardless, here is my question
My confusion is, why are the cheap gas areas (like GA) now the same as most other areas? We have ALWAYS had cheap gas, yet now I pay what they pay in West Palm Beach Florida. WPB used to be 20-25c MORE since the dawn of christ. Same with Orlando. Now they are equal.
DONT GET IT!
