Default Perma Plate Protection

I opted to have my Z treated with Perma Plate (paint, leather and trim)

It has a 5 year warranty and cost $500

What do people think about these treatments?

Being a person that has worked with several new and used car dealers, I think very little of these programs.

All it is is a polish/wax. Sometimes acrylic based. It doesn't last 3
months let alone three years. It's applied by the dealer or an outside shop. It costs the dealer about $10.00 if they apply it themselves or approx. $60 if farmed out to an outside shop. It's a great money marker for the dealer and salesmen joke about it all the time. The guarantee is useless and hinges on the laws of
average. Don't waste your money. If these systems could ever work they'd be formulated in the paint or applied at the factory.....

Teflon in a product is also marketing hype. Teflon needs heat. Approx 625 degrees to stick to a metal surface. It can never stick to a paint surface.

Another B.S. marketing ploy....

Sadly, neither Perma Plate or 40 bottles of Zaino will help prevent this:

Believe it or not, this is a 2002 Maxima GLE. I wonder if anyone has successfully made a warranty claim on Nissan's notorious chip prone paint by using Perma Plate. Depending on Perma Plates fine print, at least you would have warranty coverage on the paint for 5 years.

Alas, the skeptic in me thinks the Perma Plate claims are BS.

Unfortunately no wax or polish will ever protect against stone chips, if you drive the car, they are going to happen, so get ready for them.

The clear films you can buy from 3M do a great job however of guarding off stone chips.
