Default Waterspots on handles & glass after washing & drying

Hey all,

I was my car with Meguiar's NXT wash and dry it off with a California Drying Blade following by a chamois to get everything off for good. However, I always notice that once the car is 100% dry, there are water spots that show up on the door handles and on the glass. I usually end up taking a paper towel and some Eagle One glass cleaner to clean up the windshield & side view mirrors, and then I take a microfiber cloth with some glass cleaner and get the water spots off of the door handles.

Just curious if everyone else faces this 2-step cleaning cyle/annoyance! I guess that's the sacrifice to pay for cool brushed alum door handles. Oh well!

What brand glass wipes do you use by any chance? I used the Rain-X ones before but didn't really feel they cleaned as well as the Eagle One spray.

I've seen that at Advance Auto Parts before... I'll have to check it out. I used to use the Eagle One spray on my Mustang since it was safe for tinted windows. I also used it on my old chrome wheels on the stang since it's amonia free. Is invisible glass tint safe and amonia free?

Oh hey, didn't even realize your location.

My Z isn't tinted but my Mustang was. My stedpad used to work for Koon's Collision (the autobody shop) in Falls Church, VA and they had a person who came by twice a week to paint stripes and do tinting on cars that had them OEM before accidents, etc. I had the person there tint my windows.

I had 20% rear and 35% sides. In Virginia, 35% all around is the law. In fact, I was once given a warning ticket and pulled over by Fairfax County Police for having illegal rear tint!!! They actually had a tool to measure it! But I never removed it.

It cost me $175 to have the side and rear windows of the Mustang tinted, that included the quarter glass along side the rear bench seat.

Eagle one 20/20 window cleaner is window tint safe and works well. Water spots on paint/glass after a wash means you're using hard water which is very common. Some light quick detailer should remove them on the paint...try claying the glass to remove the spots and wax/polish the glass for protections.

Newspaper? I don't like. Try some towels specially designed for windows.

Anyone just use Windex...? I don't have tinted windows, that's what I use. I buy the concentrate and mix it very strong.. Works good if you ask me...

Anyone know how to take calcium deposits from rain off of windows? I just got a 04 350z from a dealership, and since its been sitting outside for a year, its got water spots on the windows.

People have told me everything from vinegar to car wax to shower cleaner.

Any ideas?

+1 on the vinegar.....note that you do not need full strength, a 10-15% solution should be plenty strong enough for most rainwater/wellwater problems.

Use a product called CLR (Calcium Lime Rust) it removes water spots from the handles and glass.

You should use a product called Spot Free H2O. It attaches to your garden hose, and removes all hard water deposits for a spot free finish. I love mine.

You dont even have to dry the car if you don't want to and it will still be spot free.

use AutoGlym glass polish. I had a parking decal for 1 1/2 year on my Z's front windshield. Took all the adhesive residue off that were baked on under So Cal's hot summer days
