The Vortech Intercooler is not polished, it is a rough casting. I have noticed that mine has been getting discolored over time. I have tried in the past to clean rough cast aluminum parts such as intake manifolds on other cars and I was never happy with the results. Does anyone know of a product that can breathe new life into cast aluminum? At this point I do not want to polish it, maybe this summer.
TIA

teh215......personally I have not attempted such a project.....the following product seems recommended....I can't vouch for its application on the nooks and crannies on an intercooler.....from what I have read, be prepared for a messy job.....

For technique, check out the following:

I got the following response from one of my detailing forums.......let us know how the project turns out!
"You can use an all purpose cleaner like Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner at the correct dilution and agitate with a nylon bristle brush then rinse with water.
If the parts are off the car, like the intake manifold, you can take it you your local machine shop and ask them to clean it in their solvent tank. These tanks typically use Stoddard solvent that is warmed and they do a pretty good job of getting parts clean. After they have been cleaned a solvent tank you can have them bead blasted and they' come out looking like new....."

Thanks for the replies JoneZZZ. I am going to try the Meguir's idea first. If I take the intercooler off, I might as well get it polished. If it works, I'll post a few before and after shots.
