Exclamation How much for a complete detail?

Ok, after a while my neighbors have started to notice how clean and shiny my car always is. They are interested in hiring me to detail their cars. I have no idea what a fair price is for this. So I am asking for your input for what you think is a fair price for a wash, Zaino wax, and full interior/exterior detail job on the following types of vehicles.

2 door coupes/roadsters (Audi TT/porsche type)
4 door sedans(G35 sedan type)
4 door wagons (Subaru)
Mid-sized SUV's (specifically the Volvo SUV as a few neighbors have this)
Mini-vans (they're all the same LOL)
Large SUV's (Durango, Explorer, The big Lexus SUV)

No idea how much I should be charging.

No one? Any idea what so ever? Even if you think you're way off. I'll probably just take the average of everyones replies (if I ever get any) to get my final numbers.

Eh...$20-40 per coupe/sedan, $30-50 per wagon/mid-sized SUV, $40-80 for the vans and large SUV's...just to give you some price ranges...

The materials cost sets itself, though I'd compute the per vehicle cost and mark it up 100 percent. Then there's the charge for your time. People assess their time differently, but I'd think about what I was giving up to do the detail work and how much that was worth to me. Then I'd establish a minimum hourly rate that I'd add into the calculations. In the final analysis, it wouldn't be cheap, especially since you say it's for the full treatment. I'm thinking you'd have to start prices north of $100.

Hmm...never even thought of restoring rims. That's a good idea. One could probably charge $50 just for that. I think I'll probably do something like $50 for cars and $80 for SUV's...maybe a little more or less depending on the individual car and how bad it is. I.E...full of fries, chips, and melted crayons. LOL

$50 for cars and $80 for SUVs sounds good, but I would add more if the cars are nasty, or if you have to take the wheels off to clean em. Or you could charge like $30 for materials and then charge a certain amount per hour. Whatever floats your boat...

Theres a professional detailer near me that charges $150 for wash, machine buff, polish, hand glaze and interior. Thats for most cars, SUVs like explorers and blazers he gets $200. Anything else you want done i.e. wetsanding is additional. I think a fair price to charge is prob 120 for wash, wax and interior. Waxes and carwash soap get expensive

Actually...I really like the idea of charging for materials and then labor by the hour. That would compensate for vehicle size and condition. Maybe something like...lets see...
1-1/4 bottle Z-6 say...$3
2-1/6 bottle of Z-2...$4
3-1/6 bottle of z-5...$4
4-Some Dawn the first time and Z-7 after that...$2
5-Bottle of wheel cleaner-$3
6-Misc. interior cleaners-$4

Then say $15 an hour after that

$80-$120. That is usually the price for a good detail.

THose prices are too low for a complete detail. Should be at least 150. I paid $200 for a complete detail on my old sentra. Thats the going rate around here in NY. Don't sell yourself short!
