Default Where to start?

Ok, I just bought a used 350Z. Silver. My question is I would like to start to detail it get it to look as good as I can. There is one scratch just above the drivers door. It looks like it is just on the clear coat, and maybe just a little of the paint.

Where should I start to 1) fix the scratch, 2) where to start to detail.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Dave.

One other question. I want to try and protect my rims. On my old car they got pitted, and something happened and they looked really bad. I think I read somewhere that you should wax them. I have Turtle Wax ( Carnubba ), will that work or should I use something else?
