Default Removing Fine Scratches On Plastic

I have fine scratches on my head/tail lights and instrument panels. The scratches are irritating the s*** out of me, along with the ding someone put on the fender; I would like to who ever did that. Anyways, has anyone used plastic polish and/or cleaner? If so, what brand and results?

Although I haven't tried it on "car parts," BRASSO works great on acrylic watch crystals for removing (polishing out) fine scratches. It's worth a try and cheap, too.

I think that I would try it on some place inconspicious before I slathered it all over my headlights, though.

Brasso is an interesting product. It's great for cleaning and final polishing, for example, varnish and shellac. In fact, the burlwood dashes on the early Jags got a final polishing w/ Brasso before leaving production. I used it in my antique furniture restoration days to produce a high gloss on certain wood finishes--Never lacquer. It contains high levels of ammonia, however, which over time can cloud and even deteriorate modern plastics. It also contains abrasives (I remember polishing out scratches in a belt buckle w/ Brasso in my Army days).
Long story short-it will produce satisfactory results in the short term, but I would not use it repeatedly. I would also be leary of long term effects. There are so many safe modern products out there, e.g. menzerna intensive polish, followed by Final Polish II, that will safely accomplish the same or a better result. I would try them first and use Brasso only as a last ditch. Hope this helps.
