Default Car Wash F**ked Up My Volks!

Took my Z to the car wash yesterday & the guy asked me if i wanted to have the car waxed, so i said fine. When the car was done, i looked around the car to make sure they did a good job. Well, i noticed all 4 wheels had streaks & big blotches of dried wax. I asked the guy what happened & he said he doesn't know. Whatever wheel wax they used really f**ked up the clearcoat on my volks. I always take both of my cars to that car wash & never had a problem with them, but this was the first time i ever had the Z waxed. I went to the shop where i bought my volks & one guy recommended i try blue magic to remove the dried wax on the wheels. I then went back to the car wash for them to try to remove it, but that didn't work. I don't know of any other way to remove it. I was told that they use the same wheel wax on all their customers' wheels & never had a problem. So the end result is that i need to get all 4 wheels repaired/re-polished. The guy at the car wash said he would pay half of the repairs. Shouldn't the car wash be held fully responsible for what they did? It just ruined my whole weekend!

You shouldn't be responsible since you've taken it there many times and didn't have a problem with it. They may have switched formulas? Show them your receipts and threaten to get a lawyer. Sucks dude, I love your wheels on the LS.

what's blue magic good for? Is it safe on the volk lips and rims? Or just one of the following?

Most car wash places have a sign somewhere that says "at your own risk." If that's the case, I would be glad that they offered to pay half.

Damn that sucks bro. Its a challenge for those of us that just dont have the time to wash our own Zs. A minimum wage car wash employee doesnt care about your car, they just care about getting it out of the way and getting to the next tip. My solution has been to hire a mobile car wash person to come wash all the cars at work, staff and myself. But still, I'm still always worried he's going to f*** something up. The Racing Hart stickers on my CPF-Tunes are starting to peel!

Let me tell you something - when you go to a carwash (if you must) then ALWAYS keep a receipt. A lot of carwashes don't let you keep a receipt of the actual carwash... because they require the receipt as a claim ticket.

This is why you should ALWAYS pay with a credit card, so there is a record of the transaction and you can keep the CC receipt.

My mom took old Saab 9-3 to get a wash and they totally ****ed up the power seats. She told them to pay to fix it, and they claimed she NEVER CAME TO THE CAR WASH! Her friend's a lawyer, he wrote a letter saying that she has the credit card receipt and they had better pay up. They wrote her a check and she got it fixed at the dealership.

If you have a receipt from the car wash, MAKE THEM PAY for new rims, if your rims are damaged. I hope you also have a receipt for the rims, that will make things a lot easier.

YOU TOOK YOUR CAR TO A CAR WASH

I'd sooner have oral surgery without Novcain. Much better to pay a detailing service if you don't have the time or skills to do your own.

Its like going to the drive through at KFC, they always **** you on something!

Why would you even have them wax the wheels, that is just asking for trouble, especially on expensive wheels such as Volks?

I bet it wasn't the wax that stripped them, I bet it was wheel cleaner! And I have heard many people here get their Volks ****ed up by some idiot. You def. can't get that out, whetever is on their just ate your Volks finish!

Just remember those folks that work at the Car Wash, they could give .02 ***** about your car or your wheels!

My dealer wants to detail my Z every time I bring it in. Dirty or not, I always say no, and hell I have OEM 18"ers!

I hope you get em fixed bro, at least the guy would pay for half, your lucky he didn't say read the sign, now GFY!

I took my car through a gas station car wash cause I was in a rush and a metal pipe that u haveta drive over to get out of the car wash just ****ed up my sideskirt. I noticed the sign "at your won risk" and I talked to the owner and told him it's pretty ****ed up their car wash damaged my stock ride height car. Anyways, moral is: Live and learn. I will be getting aftermarket side skirts eventually.

Tru-Wheel gave me an estimate of $480. I was told that they put the wheel wax when the wheels were too hot, which killed the finish on the volk lips. The center piece/spokes are fine. I didn't know they we're going to put wheel wax on the volks because they've never put it on my wheels with both of my cars. I assumed they knew what they we're doing since a lot of high-end luxury/sports cars with body kits and rims go to that car wash. Yes, I keep all my receipts & i also have the receipt for the volks. Lately, i've been using a mobile car wash service with my other car, so i've decided to have him wash the Z also, since he does a pretty good job. I don't have time to wash the cars myself because i know i'm just going to take a long time. I'll just get the volks repaired & look for another set of wheels.

No one likes to hear a horror story about another fellow Z member getting anything damaged on his car. I feel for you. However, I've read enough of them to realize that "I" am the only one who washes my car. I just don't trust anyone else.

Yes, it was horrific for me. I wish i had time to wash my cars' but work gets in the way most of the time. My friend told me about Auto Dry & said it works pretty good....has anyone tried it? He told me it takes him about 1/2 hour from beginning to end. If it's true, then i'll wash the Z myself. I used to wash my previous cars myself but it took me 1-2 hours, which i can't do now especially during the day. So, for now....i'll just use the mobile car wash service. Like Nick said, they just wash it at work.
