Default Best Hand Applied Swirl Remover

Let me start this off by saying I know I won't be able to completely remove swirl marks by hand. I know I'll only be able to mask them without a porter cable, and I am planning on getting one sooner or later. But until then, I'd like to know the products you guys use to remove/mask swirls by hand.

I've used the 3M SMR on small spots by hand. You can and will be able to totally remove swirls that way. I don't think I would want to do a whole car that way though.

Haven't had a chance or the need to use the Zaino PC yet.

NXT does a pretty good job of filling swirls...quick, easy, cheap and readily available

Buy a big bottle of 3M Imperial hand glaze. It goes on quickly with a cloth and will fill in those scratches that show under flourescent lights. Remember, it is soft and a good rain will wash it off so finish with your regular hard wax over the Imperial.

I think he said he wanted a "remover" not a filler.

masking is filling no?? zaino is a filler..unless you use the new ZPC or ZCP one of those is a true remover...and that to probaly works best by PC- most hand swirl removers would be fillers as well

True. Guess I needed to re-read the post. And yes, Z-PC is best with a PC but does claim to work by hand as well although you'll probably end up using more product and of course work up more of a sweat.

I strongly agree. I just did my whole car with Scratch X by Meguiars this morning. I am 100% satisfied. I've had my car for about 2 weeks now and it came with tons of swirls from the dealer. I used Scratch X, Polish, and Wax and got ride of about 90% of the swirls.

I already have a tube of Scratch-X, I wasn't too impressed with it, but I think it was my own fault. I had low quality micofiber towels at the time, so I think I ended up making more swirls then removing them . I'll give it another try though.
I couldn't find anything about 3M SMR, could you give me a link to some info? I'm worried it might be a bit too coarse for what I need, I just have some minor swirls, nothing horrible. The imperial glaze looks like quality stuff, anyone else have any experience with it? What about Sonus SFX-2, anyone ever used it? I've been checking it out and it doesn't look too bad.

Thanks for all the help guys

I use 3m swirl mark remover. Whole car by hand just be careful on the mirrors it will take paint off. Work in small areas then wash your car. Then use a polish over top of it, even though 3m is a polish. After that seal it with a nice wax. You can take them out by hand you really dont need a buffer it just makes it EASY.

My five month old Super Black was delivered with the normal factory delivered swirls and whirls. I tried Z-5 for four months before giving up. I've manage to remove 90% of the damage with Z-PC. I've now put a couple layers of Z-5 and started with the Z-2 layers and already it's looking better than ever.

i tried the ZPC on my bonnet and it totally f#$ked it up. It put hazy swirls throughout. I had to go over it twice with the trusty Farecla G10.......that teaches me for using a different product when the original Farecla took care of the swirls perfectly in the first place

i tossed the ZPC and ordered a large industry size bottle of Farecla G10

3M 39006 has a mild abrasive quality and works well on swirls. If you car is black, forget this post.

The easiest and best product I have ever used is Wax Shops "Safe Cut". It doesn't hide the swirls, it will completely remove them. It comes off easy and leaves little to no residue (powder) and no cloudiness. I can do the whole car in 15 minutes...

It is available from WaxDepot.com
