Does anyone use steel wool to clean there winshield before they use glass cleaner? Does it scratch? I guess if you chose to use the steel wool you would have to use the ones with soap already in them - right???
Thanks.
Thanks.

I've used steel wool with a water/vinegar solution on many cars without any problems trying to get rid of hard water deposits. I never used more than a medium coarseness on the steel wool. It won't scratch the glass, just let the steel wool do the work and don't force it in too much.

Actually, I 'm not trying to fix anything. Someone told me that if you use steel wool before you use glass cleaner, you get a much cleaner/clearer winshield. He had said that it will get bug, sap etc.. off that regular glass cleaner won't remove. I just wanted to try it (if it's safe) to see if there is a diference. Thanks for the input.

You can use steel wool without a problem. It's imperative though that you use only "0000" grade wool. Anything courser may scratch. And like it was said ealier let the wool do the work.

Don't do it! Even if the glass doesn't scratch you will get fine particles of steel all over your car. Eventually it WILL rust and leave stains in crevices and cannels where you can't can't get to.
I learned the hard way....consider it a gift.
