Default The Official - How to Get Water-Spots off ur Polished Lips

OK, well heres my original question and main reason for making this post, but feel free to chime in with ur knowlege. I have some wicked waterspots on my volk lips, so, today i went to the autozone and looked at what they had, didnt see much i liked, i was looking for something in liquidy type form. All i could find was this turtle wax rubbing compound...http://store.aumauto.com/tu22.html...DO you guys think this will be safe to take off the water spots? i dont wanna fock up my rims lol. Any advice info on this type of thing would be great. Maybe we can get this thread full of info JUST for the purpose of cleaning the lips of our beautiful rims!

Thanx in advance.

Bryan did you check out autopia.org? I don't know if there is an answer there, but it's worth a shot.

I would try vinegar first to see if that will dissolve the spots. If that fails, they try a clarbar. Rubbing compound might be too harsh for polished rims. You could wind up making it look brushed or cloudy/hazy.

I think that I posted this in response to your original thread. Are the wheels “etched” or do they have calcium deposits. If its calcium, DaesZ#3 mentioned white vinegar. I agree.

If the wheels are “etched,” most likely the clear coat is gone. I suggest a mild metal polish. How can you tell if its “mild.” Test it on a piece of glass or cheap glass mirror.

Mother's Aluminum & Metal polish plus some elbow grease does wonder on non clear coated polished lips, depending on how bad the stain is it might take a couple of tries.

ok well i managed to just wash the water spots off, but i wanna try this still when i get more. i tried it on my exhaust and it worked really nicely. Polished it up real well. Its turtle wax- chrome polish, not that rubbing compound i put up in the original post. Ill try it and let u guys know how it works on the lips.
