Default Swirl Marks

I have tons of swirl marks on me super black and was wondering if a shop can buff those out and for how much. Also is it bad to do that.

Yes a shop can do it. Not sure of the cost, I do it myself.

No it's not bad to do it but it's not something you want to do often. It does remove a small amount of clearcoat then eventually the paint.

I suggest you visit the Detailing forum here. It has tons of posts on swirl removal and how to care for your Z to prevent or minimize the amount of swirls you get.

It's not that hard to do yourself. All you need is a Porter-Cable random orbital buffer/sander ($109 at Lowes), a velcro backing plate and some polishing pads (Lake Country from www.topoftheline.com) and some 3M Swirl Mark Remover.

Detailing forum will help. Waxing will help too.

IMO I would not take it to a shop. Most all shops I have seen (even good paint shops) don't have a clue how to remove swirls correctly.

If you don't feel comfortable doing the Porter Cable yourself.....I'd go to Autopia.org and search for a member in your area that either does detailing or would be willing to help you out.

get swirl-filler compound of some sort, apply with portercable (or a soft cloth) in straight lines. remove with microfiber cloth.

I just spent 3 1/2 hours today washing and buffing my car. The sun had already set before i had a chance to look at the car in the sunlight. that will be the real test. my super black looks hella shiney in street lights and garage lights. The sun will give me the true results of the labor involved...
