? for detailing people
Living in Florida during the summer it gets very humid and I've noticed some type of "gunk" buildup on parts of the steering wheel, e-brake, and shifter ****. I almost want to say that it might just be a combination of dead skin particles, sweat, grease, etc. I cleaned it previously with a leather cleaner but that didn't work too great. What's the best thing to use to breakdown the "gunk" and get it removed. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Leather is porous, and will absorb oil and perspiration. But this isn't all bad. Do not use a potent cleaner (Mr. Clean) to “kill” the gunk: it will dry the leather and make it brittle. There are a hundred products out there for leather cleaning, but I still prefer a $2 tin of saddle soap.

Uhm or next time before you drive, wash your hands. Do you work at KFC?

LOL....no. I play a lot of sports and get into my car still sweaty sometimes.
And down here in South Florida....if you drive with the windows down..you could break into a sweat sitting at a red light cause it's so humid.

So then just stick with a leather cleaner. I was expecting a reply of "use 2 parts green slime, 5 parts water, 1 part salt" type of concoction

Back to the cleaning issue: Clean it with a cloth moistened (yes, wring out as much solution as you can) in a bucket of water containing a few drops of Dawn. Just wipe the seats, steering wheel, shifter, and other dirty surfaces and then let the car sit for a while with the windows rolled down. When it's all dry, apply leather and vinyl conditioners on respective surfaces. Done!
