Default Purpose of Polish?

So i just purchased my "Z washing materials" for my '06 (2 buckets, Meguair's NXT shampoo, polish and NXT wax-- with sheepskin washing mitt, chamois, microfiber clothes etc)

After washing and drying I started putting on the Meguairs polish as directed--and it said to not let it dry, but to wipe it off immediately...I did this and noticed that it left a sort of haze on the paint. Is that normal? Since I wasn't sure, I just skipped the polish step and did the NXT wax (which by the way works beautifully!)

The terms "wax" and "polish" are used interchangeably, but for this discussion, polish contains an abrasive material and wax does not. Manufactures recommending the technique for polishing: the apply with a cloth, turn cloth, wipe until clean method is common. If polishing leaves a "haze," it may be too abrasive for clearcoat.

Which meguairs polish is it? All Meguiars consumer products are clearcoat safe.

hmm polish was probably too abrasive? I suggest using 3M rubbing compound and follow up with 3M swirl remover, those combined will take out scratches and not haze it.

If it is an 06 do you really need to polish it yet? Remember polish will remove some of your clearcoat and should only be done when necessary.

Yeah, i'll probably hold off with the polish for now:P And as for which polish, it was the only meguair's polish that they had at pepboys (i'm not sure if it was nxt or something, like the wax).
Hmm and what do you guys think of the california duster? (i was thinking of getting one since i'm noticing some dust already)

What part of a 1000 satisfied Zaino customers made you use a polish that leaves a haze on your car!

Most of those "steps" in the Zanio process are preparation. If you want a top notch job, then those same steps should be done no matter which wax/polish you use. It's just like a paint job, if you don't do a good job in the prep work, the finished product won't live up to its maximum potential.

Definitely get one. I use it everytime my car rolls out of the garage. And remember, it gets better the dirtier it gets. The Cali dusters' fingers have oil or wax in them so they cling on to dust very easily.

Get them at Costco. You get the package with a full-size Cali duster PLUS the mini duster that fits in your glove box. It's only a buck or two more than the price of JUST the main duster anywhere else.

You'll need one especially after using NXT. The tech wax tends to cling dust really easily.

Also when Chamois get used more than a few times they tend to get burs on them and they actually scratch the paint or more realistically the clear coat. Ive been using the California Water blade. It makes drying so easy. I just use that and dry the rest with the Microfiber towel.
