Can you clay with hobby clay?
This may be a stupid question, but I need to just have to know. Is there any difference between the clay you get with Mothers and normal hobby clay from an art supply store? My clay is shot, and I still have lube left. I see no reason to pay $15 for clay if it's the same. Thanks.

no way
im a ceramic teacher and i wouldn't think twice about using 'hobby' clay on my z. that clay is composed of small particles that will probably end up scratching more than buffing. besides, that clay will also dry out eventually, and always leave a residue. for some reason, the blue clay is different and never seems to dry out...maybe try some of that silly putty stuff...just my two cents.

You probably can use hobby clay but it probably won't do any good. Based on this following article:
http://www.guidetodetailing.com/arti...p?articleId=61
Detailing clay contains abrasives that you likely won't find in cheaper hobby grade clay. Without the abrasives, it won't do much good.
