Another thing that I hate about Armorall is that if you get it on the plastic parts covering your speedometer/tach you'l always have a haze that won't go away. I think it may actually scratch the plastic.

 

I use NXT interior protectant and like the result very much. As noted 1000 time in previous posts, keep it off the door panels unless you want them blotchy and uneven looking.

 

armorall sucks leather,vinyl, etc. is just like our skin, it has pores. when you clog the pores it drys it out. i might try the aerospace 303 cause everyone raves about it, but i only use a microfiber cloth thats damp with water to clean my interior. as far as your speedo and gauges there is a product called novus and its very gentle wont scratch, works awesome on all clear plastics/lenses,windows,etc.

 

The trick to Armour All not blotching is to lay it on thick, then make sure to go back over it with a clean cloth a few times to remove all the excess.

Other than that, I hate it in my Z. It does good on the center concole thats about it, maybe the doors. The dash is out of the question anymore, since I about blinded myself with dashboard reflection the other day. From now on, I'm going with the clean, damp rag.

I really wish someone would make a protectorant that dries flat, instead of glossy.

I might try the 303. I assume it is sold at most parts stores?

 

OMFG!!! Please do not use that crap on any interior parts. The only thing that stuff is good for is the engine compartment. Mix it 50/50 with water and completely saturate the engine compartment. Don't wipe anything and just let it dry on its own. You'll be amased the next day when you open the hood.

Oh, clean the engine compartment first, especially if its extremely dirty.

Griots Garage Vinyl and Rubber cleaner is the best product I have used on interiors. Expensive, but worth in IMO.

 

303 dries pretty flat to me. It makes the plastic look like its brand new only a little deeper and more shiny, but not super oily like Armor All will. It costs abit more than AA, but not that much more.

 

I use it, i love it and it has a good smell too

I used Armor All and got terrible results; greasy looking and blotchy. Because it was recommended by so many people on this site, I tried 303 Aerospace Protectant. Great stuff. Use it on all interior black vinyl surfaces. (This is especially important in a ZR since the interior is exposed to the elements.

Armour All has silicone in it, that's why it leaves everything greasy. 303 dosen't and that's why it dosen't leave everything greasy. Pretty simple.

Good stuff. You can also choose to leave it a little glossy or rub it in good to just make the dash look dealer new. Make sure whatever you decide to use you spray it onto the cloth then apply to the car or it will look uneven. A little goes a long way too.

Stay away from Armour All and all the copy cats like everyone else says. Most of them are junk.

The Griots Garage stuff actually has UV protectants if I remember correctly. I bought a gallon of it several years ago and still have half of it. Good for tires too and it does not wash off them the first time they get wet like other products. Very expensive though. 1 gallon was $110 eight years ago.

Hope you find something you like. I was hesitant to put anything on mine at first too becuase of the texture, etc. of our interior. I just washed it with a wet rag for the first several months but then it starts to look a little dull and old so I tried what I already knew was good stuff and loved the way it brought everything back to life without making it too shiny.

If I ever run out I'd try to hunt down the 303 aerospace stuff. I've seen that on the recommended list for about 10 years now but have never tried it. I don't think you could go wrong with it either.

 

alright well to be the contrary...i have used armor all on the interior with good results, i know you're all aghast. However, the way to avoid the smudging is, if you're using the spray...

spray a little bit on a terry cloth towel, wipe it around the area and then before it dries turn the towel or use a different towel to spread it around more/take some of it off. This method has worked well for me, as long as you use it sparingly and spread it very evenly you wont get the smudging. Ive done it atleast a few times and the interior comes out great.
