CLAYING YOU CAR DOES IMPROVE THE LOOK OF THE CAR AND THE SHINE OF THE PAINT. It also helps the wax do what it is supposed to do....protect the paint not the crap stuck to it.
EXACTLY!!!!!!

Personally, I like the Meguiar's "mild" clay bay and the Pinnacle Clay Lube.

1 coat of Zymoil every 3 weeks plus a weekly wash works for me. The Z is always garage kept & only driven on the weekend. I would imagine a daily driver would need more aggressive cleaning agents to keep a good shine.

Your neighbor should cut your grass or clean your gutters or something....J/K what did he say when you were done? Was he shocked?

A couple things:

1. Clay bars can actually remove some clear coat, so use it sparringly, maybe once every six months or once a year. It does make a huge impact on the smoothness of your paint, which translates into a better shine.

2. Everyone is focused on the products of the moment, but there are a lot of products that will give you the same results, cheaper and with less hassle.

3. Are you doing this by hand or with a random orbital buffer. I recommend the latter as one of the best purchases/investment you will make.

That being said, if you are using a buffer I recommend using Griots Garage three stage polish in wax, P21S products of polish and wax or the third recommendation and one of my favorites is 3M products and Blitz Grand Wax. The last one are great products and the wax leaves very little residue and will not stain your black rubber linings.

1. Wash the car with ample Meguirs Gold Class soap, double the amount suggested. Wash, scrub, and rinse. Then wash again, but use the soapy water in combination with the clay bar lub to clay bar the entire car. Rinse and get ready to go forward. (one note, if you have already waxed, I would wash once with Dawn dish soap to remove old waxes and residue).

2. Using a buffer and white polishing pad, apply liberal amounts of 3M Imperial Machine Glaze. (if you have serious swirl marks you can first use 3M swirl remover or perfect it first with a orange polishing pad then go to the Machine Glaze).

3. Follow up with Blitz Grand Wax, apply by hand using a 100% terry cloth made in the USA applicator. Use only back and forth or up and down motions, no reason to create swirl marks. Allow to haze, and then remove with high end 100% cotton terry cloth (griots garage sales very nice and very expensive ones or the cobra microfiber is nice). Follow up with Meguires quick detailer to remove any reside and repeat.

Always use two wash buckets, one for fresh suds and one to deep and rinse your dirty boars brush, cotton towel or microfiber towel. Always wash in a side to side or up and down motion. Swirl marks come from us using crappy scrubbers in circular motions while washing or detailing. Do not go cheap on applicators or pads, a paint job is much more expensive than good products.
