If you just got your car, I'd seriously think about investing in a clear bra for the bumper at least. It will end up looking like it was shot with buck shot or put into a bead blaster.
To wash and put 1 coat of wax on should take you about 2-3hrs if you are meticulous and not just wiping the wax everywhere.
6months is probably the amount of time til you "NEED" to wax the car. But to give it a well manicured look, I'd suggest approx every 3-5weeks.

So the no 7 showcar glaze comes off easily? I read somewhere (i think autopia) that even if you take it off before it dries it's pretty hard to work with. If its easy to take off then i'll probably pick some up next time

Just tried out the NXT paste, it was my first time ever waxing a car, all I can say is 
Of course I applied waaaay too much wax, it was kind of a pain to take off.
but still I'm amazed.
