Hey all u zaino veterans out there, just got my ride back from the body shop, new front end, hood, bumper, fenders. an older lady decided to present her passenger side door to my front end as she didn't "see me" and made a left in front of me. oh well, s'it happens. had about 10 layers of zaino on previously but just wondering if I should let the new paint cure or harden for a period of time before I zaino. I was told to wait 3 to 4 weeks before I replace the Clear bra. any inut would be appreciated. Thanks

 

Do not even think of adding Zaino to new paint. New paint has vapors trapped in it that need to be released to the atmosphere. By using a "zaino" type product aka, polymer sealent or what ever you are going to trap the vapors and the paint will not cure properly. ALL you should really use on a car THAT HAS BEEN PAINTEDA is one that is natural and can breath. At first you want to use 3m handglaze for two or three weeks. Then change to a good quality carnuba. I would not use a "polymer based sealent" on new paint. Its just not a good idea. This is coming from someone with years of paint experience.

 

If the shop that painted it told your 3 to 4 weeks before putting on a clear bra, then you should wait at least that long before you start Zaino.

 

kevin, how long would you recommend that i wait till the new paint has cured for the zaino. haven't tried the other stuff as i've had great results from the zaino. we're seeing temps right now around 90-100 degrees, low humidity. thanks for the input.

 

Just had a repaint done as well on my front bumper and hood due to rock chips. Driving the car around like an old lady (no freeway driving whatsoever) .... waiting 3-4 weeks for the paint to "cure" then putting on a clearbra and then going with a total Zaino detail. Just be on the safe side and wait 3-4 weeks. I was told by my Zaino detailer that you need to wait this long as well also before waxing or clearbra'ing. Letting your car and paint bake out in the sun will speed up the process as well. It also helps that it's nice and hot where you are.
