Default No more auto car washes

I took my Z to the auto washes. When my Z first went over the ramp I heard a scraping sound. I found out the left cat converter got dented in. Its not that bad I hope.The Z sits low cant go to those washes anymore. Its hard to keep the Z clean in the winter.

Also, on the car washes that tow the cars through, be careful. Some of them may scrape your wheels on the side rails since your wheels sit so low.

Another bad side effect is that the brushes that are supposed to clean the sidewalls of tires can make small scratches on the rims of lower profile tires that eventually dull the finish on the rims....

another bad thing is that if the car wash is of poor quality you will see small scratches throughout the car.

I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR TO ANY CARWASH, EVER!

do it by hand!

Ditto;
The only carwashes I go through are the "Touchless" kind-- Only jets of water and foam n stuff-- nothing but water, soap, and hot air go near the car-- no "scouring" pads vigorously shaken across my Z!!!

How many times do we have to go through this people? - no matter what, automated carwashes OF ANY KIND will damage your car. Period. If you care about avoiding scrathces, Wash it yourself! Its a good workout anyway. And yes, I live in a cold area and have washed my car in sub 40 degree weather. I take my car to a place with self-service bays.

Man, I'd never take my Z through an auto carwash. This car's clearcoat gets scratches from just about everything--I can't imagine what a carwash bristles would do.

I take my car to the carwash that is all by hand. They just pull it in the garage, and like a chain...they wash and dry it by hand, and they vacuum, clean the windows in and out and armor-all the tires. The car comes out really nice.
I would never bring it to the automatic car wash either, it would scratch your paint up soo fast, all you will see is spiderwebs in your paint.

Definitely do it by hand - auto car washes are a no-no. Also, be careful with those high-pressure hoses at the do-it-yourself cleaning bays. I've heard you can actually blast dirt into the paint with these things.
