Default Re-cut/compounded/buffed/polished Oe Hood :D

Ok well i recut and compuonded/polished/glazed my oem hood today. I dont recommend trying this at home because there is a huge change that most of you guys will burn though ur clear with the rotary and wll need to take the hood in for a repaint but anyhow thought id share.

Here are some pics of the hood before today. it used to have allot of streaks, orange peel etc. So today i wetsanded it all flat with 2500 grit and then compounded/polished/glazed with the Meguires Mirror Glaze system.

Enjoy.

Old Pics (u can see the streaks, nasty, etc, even worse in person the pics hide allot of the problems that there were)

New Pics (nothing, clean and sharp as a mirror )

Wetsanded

After a round with the compound on the rotary

Polished to take out the compound swirls

Final Glaze! Hows that for a mirror finish

Reinstalled on the Z

Wow that looks 100x better, it looks like glass on your hood, nice job!

What if you had swirls all over your SB car? It would annoy the **** out of you, same case with him, he has a SB hood and it was nasty, he just fixed it so its clean and like a mirror again, people repaint entire cars because of the issue he was having on his hood. Thats why he did it.

That black hood is going to have a lot of rock chips on it, unless you clearbra'd it. Nice job though!

Good work, outstanding even. I want to see pics after the roof is done too. I think I'll like it, but agree seeing just the hood black was a bit odd without understanding where you were going with it.

HAHA. thats not true. the RO buffer is good for detailing and like i said, most people should not try to do this cuz the risk of jacking the hood up is pretty high.

I used a 3m Machine Glaze for the final polish.

Awesome job. I really want to learn how to do this. Perhaps I need to pick up a random hood from a junk yard and see what kind of damage I can do. Again, nice job.
