Thumbs up CrystalGuard review w/ pics by MaxHax

Hello,

I am Max and I have been using this forum pretty moderately for about 4 months. I mainly follow and post in the performance area but I follow the detail section and a few others too. Awhile back I responded to a thread that was asking for “CrystalGuard Monitors.” I politely asked to be chosen but if I recall it wasn’t a very long winded request. Just sort of a “yeah I would like to try it.” (Not an exact quote but you get the idea.) Up to that point I had never even heard of CG. Recently I was contacted by “350z_tako” who had initially started the thread and I was chosen to be a monitor. I do not know how many were chosen (someone here mentioned 10.) I do not know why I was chosen, perhaps the color of my car, perhaps the region I reside in or perhaps randomly. It really doesn’t matter to me why I was chosen, I am just very happy and thankful I was chosen and you will soon see why. I begin my review with this info to make it clear to anyone who reads this that I do not know “Tako”; I have never met him nor spoke with him. He is a total stranger to me so this is a completely unbiased review of a product I had never heard of till that thread was posted. With that out of the way let’s get to the review. About a week later I received 2 small bottles of liquid, one a clear wash fluid and one a murky type fluid via UPS. I had forgotten all about it and my car was a mess from being in numerous mod shops over the past month. So the timing was perfect. Along with the two bottles were some in depth instructions and some good “tips.” I read the 2 pages repeatedly to make sure I had a firm understanding and then proceeded with the task at hand. In the past I have always paid someone to detail my car so I was expecting a challenge and started at 8:00am. It was going to be a sunny day and a mild 64 degrees around noon. I parked my car in the driveway in the shade and got everything ready; I even set up a table for all my equipment and instructions etc. I was actually looking forward to doing this myself; I wanted to make sure it was done right. I began by washing the car thoroughly (just the painted areas) with the CG Clear. I had purchased special micro fiber car wash towels for this. I then applied the CGQ while the car was still wet. At this time of the morning it was still cool enough to do half the car (small car helps) at a time. I was done with the wash and the initial CGQ application in about 60 minutes. It looked pretty good but I was addicted to how easy this product was to use. So I did a second application, this time breaking the car up into 4 quarters. I reread the tips section again and seeing that it was still before noon and getting really nice out I decided to go for it! I washed the car for a second time with the CG Wash and applied a thin coat of CGQ over the entire car while it was still wet. I washed the rims, the exhaust pipes, the front air damn and even the entire interior! This actually felt good! Much better than paying some guy to drive my car away like he owns it then rush around my car while I sit around deciding how much to tip him! Then I came inside and took a shower and put on shorts. I checked the local weather and it was about 67 degrees and my car was sitting in the shade absorbing the CGQ. It had set for about 2 hours with the CQC on it and had developed a nice thin haze. I washed it again with the CGW (gently) and spent a good half hour drying it thoroughly. Then I drove it around the block to get the annoying drips off and parked it back in the shade and dried it some more. This second method was slightly more time consuming but still very easy. To me this 3rd application and letting it sit on longer seemed to have the most dramatic effect. I hand buffed off some spots that the wash did not completely remove and let it sit about another hour. Finally I applied some Tire Wet % Shine and was done. I parked it in the garage and we ate dinner and watched the news. At about 5:00pm I went back out and snapped 3 photos of it. It was at this point my jar dropped. It was smooth as glass. I brought the camera in and uploaded them to my web page. My wife and neighbor coming home from work did not believe I had done this to my car myself. My neighbor still doesn’t. Here are 3 pics.

click here, it is the last 3 pics on the page

It wasn't until after I looked at the pics that I was so amazed at how awesome my Z looked (better than brand new and better than an expensive detail with an expensive wax.) My wife and I had to go back outside and look at it again. I was so proud of it I let it sit in the driveway (instead of the garage) till dark.

Here is a similar angle before the CG treatment to be fair.

before link

That looks OK, but it lacks the glass look of the CG, but that’s my opinion. Others can decide for themselves.

Bottom Line:

I'm sold on this product. Tomorrow I plan on buffing a few more areas that have a slight haze and it's done. I can’t wait until the people at the track see it in 3 weeks!

What I like most about this product was its ease of use. I have always hated washing cars, let alone wax them but if I had more of this product I would do it every time. I will probably never pay another guy to wash my car based on products like this that make it so easy and if you scratch it there is no one to blame but yourself (others who use detailers will relate to this fear.)

The only con I can think of concerning CGW and CGQ is that I am out of it now!

I give it thumbs up and would use it again. I went even further and added a link to the CG website in my links section reserved for a very few people/products that I have put my faith in. That means allot because I don’t normally link to products from my page unless I am thoroughly impressed by them (this is represented by how few links I currently have there. I can't wait to put the finishing touches on it in the morning then take it for a drive! It truly looks better than new! Thanks for choosing me Tako!

Thanks for goooooooood review

Just check out your car again tomorrow morning. IT LOOKS BETTER tomorrow moring!!!!

Actually, CG makes your car wash easier and easier every time you wash it and apply CGQ.

I am glad you liked it. I am thinking about having "continuing" discount for monitors. Thanks again for review, and please let me know how it looks tomorrow moring!!!!

Thumbs up 20 hours later, 2 more pics

I love it, plain and simple. I will buy more soon. I want to see others results, their method of application and what discounts may apply to us.

Anyway here is two more shots. The first shot is taken to try and capture the depth, color and smoothness of the paint. It's like glass! The second one is from the side per a private request I got that showed my rims.

photo one close up

photo 2

The bad thing about photos is they are so limiting. The camera, the lighting and even the monitor and video card you are using all becomes a factor. Anyway, time to go play in it!
