Default Engine Degreasing my350z

Dear forum members,

I want to degrease my engine but I need to know which steps are necessary to take before I hose down my engine bay. From the look of our intakes I'm assuming there are minimal procedures to follow but am I right? Should I take out the air filter? Do I have to cover the entrance or can I degrease without it?

Thanks
Will T.

I have the K&N Typhoon Air Intake which is pretty much sealed. With the OEM intake just stuff a plastic bag inside. The leaf blower is the key to getting all of the water out of the engine bay. I prefer that it not sit there.

BTW if you are shopping for a leaf blower I recommend:

Toro Super Blower Vac 51591
CR Best Buy
$70
