Just got a new painted bumper. Can I wax this weekend?
Hey guys,
I just got my Z back from the body shop to replace the front bumper. I got the lady back earlier tonight and she looks so hot. They cleaned the car so it looks great. I want to wax her but I want to know if it is safe for me to do so? I assume the paint is cured already. I mean not like I can keep the car away from the elements such as rain 'cause it stays outside. I just want to take advantage of the fact that I don't have to wash her already. Just wax and go! Suggestions?

oh man . Its going to be freezing by then. Whats the reasoning behind this? Are there chemicals that can harm the new paint or is it the rubbing motion that could be the problem?

there are different brand paints, call the shop that did the work and ask....get it waxed by a detailer in a nice warm garage bay...make sure they know it's new paint

BUMP:
Okay..its been 50 days. Weather is beautiful out here (record high possibly). Anywho...I would like to take the car for a wash at the least. Do you think it is safe to wax now? Still kinda iffy about if I should wait the full 90 days. I know some paint manufacturers state paint cures that long version the paintshop.

It is because the paint needs to "outgas". there are solvents in the paint that need to in esence dry up. If you place a sealent or a wax on top of fresh paint then the wax will hold in the volvents and not let them "outgas". With certian paint types that can cause premature paint failure.
