Default New Car Waxed???

I was just wondering of the dealer did anything more than wash the factory protection off the car when they delivered it to you.

It's a shame you can't rent some sort of detailing booth for a day someplace!

In England I had many customers who would somehow have their cars detailed at the shipping yard. In this country there are many Corvette people who pick up their cars at the Corvette Museum and have them detailed right there.

I never let the dealer touch my car.

I would never let a dealer touch my car. I removed the protective plastic, etc. myself on my car. They just checked the fluids etc., which I also would have rather done myself.

Well, I found out this weekend that the answer is NO (they don't do anything to you car except barely wash it). I got my car hand cleaned and waxed (and that was hard enough). After it was washed, you could still see all the glue lines from the paper stuck to the body panels. They seem to have done a good job at the detailing shop I went to.

It'll be interesting on how well it holds up. Generally they use products of decent quality but they don't seem to hold up because they don't prep the surface properly. A lot of places use products laiden with silicone as well to hide some imperfections. Let us know how it holds up.
